Anyone who listens to rap, 'punk' or pop. It's all terrible.
Anyone over about 25 who still listens to Top 40 chart pop music* is extremely suspect. Either a severe case of arrested development or a sexual interest in teenagers.
There is good rap music out there, but not very much of it, especially since about 2010.
I work with a lot of creatives. I try to give most kinds of music a shot and gain an appreciation or respect for it, even if I don't personally enjoy it. I would rather nail my feet to the floor than listen to jazz, for example, but I do understand why people who like it, like it, and I don't think it's bad music. But Punk. I've tried for the best part of three decades to "get" punk. I've listened to a lot of it. I've talked to and worked with a lot of punk fans and musicians. I've spent 25 years trying to gaslight myself into thinking punk music has merit, or at least has done at some point. But it's time to admit that the Emperor has no clothes, and that punk is, and always has been, fucking terrible. From the New York Dolls to now, it all sounds the same, and it all sounds really bad. I can't think of a single kind of music other than punk that hasn't evolved, at all, in the last 45 years, but punk hasn't at all. There is no innovation, no creativity, no reason to listen to one punk band rather than another. And even that wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for the way punk fans think it's high art. It's not, it's simple music played by bad musicians for, there's really no other word that fits here, posers. Punk isn't music to listen to so much as it is music to be seen to listen to. There's this revolting culture around it that goes on about it being "authentic" when the Sex Pistols were literally a scam dreamed up by Malcolm McLaren, an avaricious Jew from an obscenely wealthy family to empty the pockets of stupid teenagers who thought they were being rebellious and countercultural by buying horrible cheaply-made records by talentless musicians hand-picked for stupidity and lack of skill. It's one of the most successful scams in modern history, 45 years on and people, many of them with advanced degrees from good universities, are still falling for it. Punk sucks. It's a breathtakingly cynical genre made as cheaply and with as little care and talent as possible and sold as rebellion, like buying a Che Guevara t-shirt from Ali Express. If you like punk, I'm afraid to tell you that the Emperor is in fact naked and you are a rube.
*As in chart pop music that is still coming out. If you like pop songs from your childhood, that's understandable nostalgia.
