That was kind of where i was getting at with the original post, not so much "which band i think sucks fat ones." Thank you, but you're probably a jew.
Holy shit, my self-righteous post about band merch actually didn't piss you. I love this place because you can have moments like this.
"You're fucking retarded, you should die and here's why _____"
"That's pretty based dude. Thanks for the rational input. Understandable, have a great day fag."
/mu/ has splattered a stigma over albums I actually enjoy. It's embarrassing to admit I like ITAOTS but not in the "I get my music opinions from /mu/ and theneedledrop" way
The problem with hipsters is they have the best taste in music, even if it's indirectly and by happenstance.
I love OK Computer, Quebec, Come In, Titanic Rising, MBDTF and loads of other faggy albums /mu and reddit adores. But something as goofy and earnest as Bat Out of Hell is also my favorite album of all time. The problem with /mu isn't that they like their artsy shit. It's that they can't also listen to anything that's fun. If these guys were somehow able to listen to The Smiths AND ELO, they'd probably be a lot more fun to talk to. As long as you like what you like unironically and can branch out every now and then you'll never be a /mufag.
On that note, I'll try and add a couple.
A guy I work with loves J. Cole with a passion and he's the biggest NPC wigger I have ever met. Also unironically calls it "real shit". Kill me.
Michael Jackson- He was a wonderful performer but his fans seem to look past his more suspect behavior and pull the "dindu nuffin" a little too much for me. Not saying the guy did anything, but I think people look at him as too much of a figure that can't be tarnished. They're like the opposite of the cancel-culture crowd in that even if absolute evidence came up showing MJ had fifty kids in his basement and his semen was found on their clothes they'd still be unconvinced... because the guy made Thriller, damnit.
Sigur Ros, Wilco, Arcade Fire, The National, Fleet Foxes, - These bands... I'm convinced don't exist because I've never met a full-fledged fan of them. I see their albums online but they can't actually be real bands. I've at least MET people who know or listen to Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, Bjork and Tame Impala. Not true for these. Are there enclaves or large villages and cults of people scattered around the planet who are the only people who have listened to an album by The National? WHERE THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE? I lie awake at night ruminating the terror I would feel meeting someone who's actually listened to "Funeral" and has it as one of their favorite albums, not because I would hate them but because it would actually prove to me a fan of Arcade Fire actually was out there in the real world, was real, and that there would there would be millions of others within a close vicinity of them.
