What are some of your "warning sign" bands? - When you hear someone says they like X band then it's time to ask for the check.

Yeah it is a shame as you said because I do like alot of their music especially their debut album but there are some REALLY insane Ghost fans.

For me the only red flag band that comes to my mind is Five Finger Death Punch, like every single person I have met that likes this band is like addicted to meth and are kind of these tough guy wiggers.
FFDP is a really good choice, in my experience it's been the fat LARPer black rifle coffee wannabe goobers who would piss their pants at the concept of enlisting in the military, who also happen to somehow be meth addicts, who like them lmfao

Reba McEntire or Carrie Underwood. Either one should be a huge red flag.

Whenever I hear this, I always picture "true metal" being defined as either overproduced '80s glam shit or the kind of junk that has a lot of atonal growling. NIN isn't metal, Manson isn't metal, APC isn't metal, AiC isn't metal, Godsmack isn't metal, Deftones isn't metal, Staind isn't metal, Cold isn't metal, Dream Theater isn't metal, Alter Bridge isn't metal, Devy's solo work isn't metal, Metallica and Sabbath barely count as a result of the grandfather clause, and the only stuff I listen to that's "true metal" is GnR, SYL, and Meshuggah.
Sheesh, I can't tell if this is a shitpost or you're living up to your username, but True Metal refers to the following:
  • Heavy Metal (especially the NWOBHM) which is everything from Black Sabbath to Judas Priest to Manowar and Dio. Heavy Metal is NOT HARD ROCK, so while those previously mentioned bands are Metal, others commonly considered Metal are not.
  • Speed Metal
  • Power Metal
  • Thrash Metal
  • Death Metal
  • Black Metal
Everything outside of these is up for debate, but you're mostly on target. From what you've posted, I'll tell you that G'n'R is Hard Rock, NIN and Marilyn Manson are both Industrial Rock, Staind and Alter Bridge are both Post-Grunge, Deftones and Godsmack are both Nü-Metal, APC and Cold are both Hard Alternative, and Meshuggah stopped being Metal after the first album.

AiC, SYL, Dream Theater and Metallica are all Metal. Glam is debatable. Stuff like W.A.S.P., Twisted Sister, Mötley Crüe, Dokken, London or Stryper are all Metal whereas Poison, Pretty Boy Floyd, Great White, Cinderella, Britny Fox and Kix are not.

Heavy Metal is NOT HARD ROCK
Heavy Metal absolutely dips into rock, though. Older heavy metal includes Led Zeppelin, Blue Öyster Cult, fuckin’ Steppenwolf. Music genres aim to be way too atomized and specific.

Thread tax: anyone who insists their music is an overly specific genre, such as industrial Indy shoegaze, rather than just Indy rock.

He was. But he was enough of a skilled musician that I would say almost anyone could find an album if his they liked because he could play in so many different genres.
He is a skilled musician. Not bashing the guy based on that. I like to listen to his stuff every now and then, but thinking on it, it's more, I think, people thinking they're cool, just 'cos they listen to him. Like people who like to make out, and or boast that they're die-hard Nirvana, and Stones fans.

Gorillaz. All its fans are either tryhard hipsters or trannies who think it makes them appear more "interesting" by liking boring mumbly music because its "experimental"
Not all, but yes a healthy, horrifying amount. The early trilogy of albums; namely self-titled, Demon Dayz and Plastic Beach; are the only good albums (I mean MF Doom had a major appearance in one of the tracks for Demon Dayz, and it was awesome), while the rest is just the semi-fictional band doubling down on their shitty lefty sperging

Zappa was an autist and as such he attracts massive numbers of other autists who think he's literally the single best artist who's ever lived. There's a fanpage of his on facebook where the admin posts clips, photos and other random content but he has a compulsion to fact check and shit on every single person who ever comments anything that doesn't 100% line up with established Zappa lore and historic records, whether out of ignorance or any other reason. I imagine that's what a lot of his fans are like.

Gorillaz lost me after Plastic Beach and then Cracker Island had a couple of good tracks, but I'm tired of pretending Silent Running isn't On Melancholy Hill isn't El Manana.

That particular song just becomes less sonically interesting every time Albarn rewrites it.

The Fall was downhill from here. That album had a mountain of fillers and it's sad because it had a couple good tracks. Humanz, Now Now, Song Machine and Cracker Island were just dogshit albums with each albums only having two good tracks, respectively per album.

I once had someone introduce me to "furry music" and now we aren't friends anymore because it didn't even sound good and it was just about fucking other furries and it made me mad that he thought I'd like really badly made furry sex music.
What? You're saying that this isn't up there with Your Favorite Martian?
Also he nuked his presence at some recent point and this is what's left. Rip over 9000 vr chat music videos.
I haven't found any concrete reason why. Someone on ADISC says there was an arrest and a bunch of people are calling him a pedo on rateyourmusic but nothing too specific. Considering his aesthetic though, account nukage is rarely a good sign.

I'm going to put effort into finding the exact song I was sent and if you get a chance to hear it, you'll understand why I ended an entire friendship over it. It's not even good singing. Whatever the hell you just sent me is pretty awful too. but still somehow not worse than the furry music guy I'm talking about.

Cracker Island (the song) is noisy and pretentious. Their best song is White Light. No, actually, I've changed me mind: Demon Days (the song). But White Light is close behind it.

@WTBOnlineFather WAS Zappa genuinely autistic, or was he just irritating and hyper? It's hard to tell. People with minor autism are seen as annoying, whiny wankers, whereas, the poor fuckers on the severe end of the spectrum, come across as tards, but they're not. Like in that one Bruce Willis film where he has to protect that little boy genius, who has sperg-outs, from a government agent with an agenda.
