What are some of your "warning sign" bands? - When you hear someone says they like X band then it's time to ask for the check.

Anyone who says they'll listen to "anything". No specific genre. Just "anything". It's basically the quickest way to tell me you're the most boring fucking person in the world whose first question to someone you just met is "so, what do you do for work". But since you're up for listening to "anything", I guess you won't mind me playing some Anaal Nathrakh.
I'm sorry, but "what kind of music do you listen to?" is an equally boring question, with the added benefit that there's usually a right answer and a wrong answer. The fact is, with most people its safer to just say that you like everything than endure some banal conversation about music tastes. I can't say I'm into goth and post-punk around the wrong people, I can't say I like classic rock without normies conflating it with metal, I can't say I like 90s hip-hop without it being called "Will Smith-core" or some other dumb joke they learned from Instagram. Most of the time it just isn't worth getting into, and the more serious someone is about a certain genre the more likely they are to be firstly, insanely obnoxious and secondly, utterly ignorant of everything outside their wheelhouse.

I just say metal and give no fucks. If the person asking spergs out, that's their problem.

Going to mention an actual band: Sleep Token.
The whole thing feels like it was made to appeal to 20 something white chicks who want to be "alternative" without having to worry about being an outcast. Not to mention that every single Sleep Token song sound like the intro of multiple different songs stitches together.

I think the problem here is that you should try talking to people older than 15.

What's actually a "warning sign" is a thread as ridiculously retarded as this getting 37 pages worth of replies (tl;dr, I'll assume it's mostly shitflinging about tastes).
Let people enjoy things. Music genres aren't fucking personality traits, you don't automatically become a spoiled blonde for listening to Lady Gaga, a school shooter for humming "Pumped Up Kicks", a ghetto nig for rapping and whatever the fuck else OP and everyone else in this thread has been rambling on for hundreds of replies. Also yes, "I listen to anything" is a valid response.

I don't think I will.

I’m not stopping anyone from enjoying anything. But I will judge you for rolling in shit.

Tastes are subjective, the line between "good" and "bad" tastes is as blurry as it gets and arguing about tastes is a waste of time. More news at 11.
A person’s taste in media is absolutely an indicator in that person’s personality and ability to make decisions. If a person tells me he likes rap, I can infer that he likes chick music and said decision making probably extends to other, potentially more important, interests.

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet but fans of the faux pagan shit like Heilung are insufferable. I also think the music sucks (mostly beating on drums and throat singing, pretending that pagans were all witches or some shit) but that's besides the point. You can even see these weirdos wearing hides and deer skulls/antlers to concerts lol. I think pagans are pretty similar to the punk movement - being counter culture just for the sake of it.

Glad to see U2 is getting mentioned so much here. Cannot fucking stand that band and hate that it sometimes gets lumped in with post punk bands. Apart from obvious things like post grunge, country pop, and mainstream hip-hop, I would say hair metal is pretty big red flag.

Look, SJWs can be annoying

But good God, anybody who posted a Chris Ray Gun or Anti-SJW song & unironically said “HAH! Libtards PWNed!” makes me want to pull my body inside through my eyes

It’s such childish basic bitch shit that borders on SNL levels of bad comedy, or a 10 year old watching South Park & wanting to act cool by repeating lines from it.
If I want balls to the wall offensive music, I would go for The Dead Milkmen, GG Allin, or David Allan Coe’s X-Rated Hits

Any kind of YouTube “funnyguy” song that aims to make fun of Anti-SJWs is always PG-13 “I am so edgy” shit
