What are the most pretentious games ever made?

I wasn't expecting something good. I was expecting something stupid and inoffensive that would let me shoot at bad guys for a few hours. What I got was something that was too stupid to realize how stupid it was and offensive to my sensibilites as a person with a working frontal lobe where instead of shooting at bad guys I was forced to listen to the proselytizing of a bunch of inbred waco rejects in between completing major milestones.
Well, I was pretty disappointed in it to. I felt that it was a huge waste of a setting, was so disappointed I read the novelization out of vain hopes it would expand the world in a meaningful way and then it sucked even harder. Far Cry 4 was the same, it had this really interesting family story that sounded like something from old Medieval legends woven into a Third World narcostate setting, and it was totally squandered being hidden in the form of little letters while the main story was basically some queer in a pink suit occasionally calling you to spout off lolsorandom stuff.

Shut your whore mouth, sinner. "Keep Your Rifle By Your Side" trumps any flaws it may have.

Nor did I get any fart-huffing vibes from it. It left me wanting more redneck wars. My biggest complaint with FC5 is that the Resistance points forced the story to progress too quickly, and that you can't go half a mile in any direction without getting in a drive-by with Peggies.
I felt like in the quest to be non-political, they actually did screw up by making the cult completely boring and lacking in personality. I don't think the cult even uses the word "God." They have no real culture, ideology, or theology besides just loldrugs and survivalism with a cross smeared on it. I mean, shit, even that could have been done better since the county's whole personality was being survivalist, it could have had some notion of individual responsibility versus collective safety built into its narrative. They could have had a real mind-fuck (instead of that lame nukes-fall-everyone-dies ending) if it turned out part of the way in that you get brainwashed into the cult and then the rest of the game is conquering the county for the cult, with the collectivism and lack of degeneracy being part of how you win.

Bit of a shame, because the, like, two different sermons you hear on the radios are hilarious because they sound 100% like something a preacher in a Baptist church would preach. There could have been themes about how their social conservatism attracts people who are alienated from modern society (both capitalistic and degenerate) and the discipline their religion gives makes them fanatical. If you look up real life cults like Vissarion in Russia or the Nation of Islam, you get big vibes like that.

There's three ways I could have seen playing a cult off that would have all had a lot more cover and something to think about. I say something to think about, I mean like how Bioshock was in some sense "about" Objectivism. One way would have been to play into Current Year and have them be the evil White Identity types the journalists thought they would. Another would have been to do the exact opposite and reference People's Temple and that one Black group down in Arizona, having them be communistic progressive libshits and playing the contrast against the locals.

Since both of those would have caused massive outrage among half the population, the third way would have been goofy hippie pseudo-Oriental New Age woo and alien cult stuff, and then play it off like hippies vs cowboys.

And I guess a fourth option is just playing them off like Not-Mormons, which would be the closest to what the bunch seemed to be anyways aesthetically, which would offend the Mormons, but nobody cares about the Mormons except the Mormons.

The thing about the map being too chaotic was what ruined the hunting and fishing for me, there's always gunfire rattling around you.

Think most indie games fall into this category. I decided to try out some of the different stuff Epic gave away last year and played a bunch of the indie titles and though there were one or two decent ones most were pretentions shit. The worst part is, if you look them up these games get like 80%+ ratings from journos. Absolute fucking lunacy.

Like for example there is one called The First Tree that got good reviews but its barely even a game. Its like an hour long and all you do is run around as a fox doing basically nothing with some hipster faggot narrating in the background talking about muh depreshun or something. Its a particularly bad example because it doesn't even try to cleverly disguise the meaning or message, some prick literally narrates how he hates his dad or something. No one cares, you are a 20 something hipster with no life experience and your message isn't "deep", you just sound like whiny faggot.

There was that game made by some tranny that were friendly with Giantbomb and they made a very confused quick look of it where they tried to figure out how a non-game works.

A melodramatic art indie game about divorce and cheating with experimental for the time ai that attempted to respond to your messages. And the game actually has multiple endings. Did I mention it's graphical engine comes from a line of Ubisoft pet simulators?

Truly a masterpiece of its time.

yknow what, yeah this game does come across as more of a collage student's art piece now that I think about it. But god damn is this game funny as fuck at times
To make the game and the people around it even more embarassing, somehow DARPA was convinced that the ai this guy made could accurately replicate real speech. Only six years after Facade released.

These niggers spent 37 million dollars on people like him. To train police and military in situations that could end up being life or death.

2022 Saints Row reboot - Saints Row but without the bits that made the series good.

The awful Saint's Row reboot made me realize how much I miss 2000s gangster rap culture in the entertainment media. There was a whole gangsta rap video game sub genre that lasted until Saint's row the third came out. Saint's row and Grand theft auto San Andreas were offensive and proud of it. Pimps and Hoes were celebrated and gamer culture was better for it. Gangsta rap was the last of the edgy 90s that survived into the late 2000s.
You weren't lying, its been 10 years and coomers still make porn of this.

And there's a LOT of dog porn...:cryblood:

To be fair. Elizabeth is a girl who happens to be white. Dog porn at least in character.

To add to my previous Facade posting -

This is their original website with a lot more 2005 relevant information

I swore there was a version of this page still online somewhere, maybe there is but the main one is just a page by the reformed version of the company. It has little on the creators or the game. This site however even listed their past work.

If we're not including Indie Trash (including the shit pushed by Journoscum), or devs like Tale of Tales or The Chinese Room? Yeah, I know who I'm going with.

Step aside, Kojima. Move back, Druckmann, Be on your way, Randy. None of you at your worst can stand even a fraction as tall as the reigning king of sophistry, the high lord "I am so much better than all of you lesser game developers."

There is, realistically, only one motherfucker who can top this chart.

David. Fucking. Cage.

If you're not familiar with this dude, go see Ross's review of Fahrenheit, and you'll get a general grasp of one of the more coherent titles he made.

A little surprised no one has brought up super Columbine Massacre RPG yet. This is an shitty edgy RPG maker game that's up it's own ass with it’s heavy handed political messages and anti-religious themes that paints Eric and Dylan as the true victims. Because they had no friends and were made fun of at school. The writing accurately predicted YouTube skeptics and r/atheism at the same time. The game comedy feels the worse, writing by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland . The game creator was even friends with lulzcow Matt Jarbo and even had a now deleted interview on the old Mundanematt YouTube channel.

I haven't played it, but does The Binding of Isaac get a pass just because it's gross (like South Park) and not a walking simulator? The game is basically all piss and shit and dead baby humors, but layered around an anti-Christianity message and symbolism. It strikes me as being the equivalent of Piss Christ.
the game doesnt really preach that much, All i really got was that the mum went skitzo after the dad left and locked him in the basement

90% of this thread is shitting on Bioshock Infinite...

... and I will shit on it too.

I had to start it 3 times over idk 2 years maybe until I finished it.
The gameplay is boring, they do nothing with the environment, Elizabeth isa walking cheat code, the story is a mess and has so many plotholes and after half the story you know about here role and that you are Cumstock or whatever his name us, everything sucks and is shit.

But I will blame for the most part video game journoscum and sheeply consoomers.
"Finally we have a game that looks good AND HAS A GREAT STORY!" - No. It's a turd.

"You need to play the DLCs! They will solve the plotholes!" - They made everything worse.

God, I hate this game and all the praise it got back then.

And the one Far Cry game on the island with that insane guy.
"I AM A LUNATIC I KILL RANDOM PEOPLE AHAHAHAHA" - dies after half the story. Your main character sucks and is a whiny cunt who turns into Rambo bc of fucking tattoos. The ending sucks, no matter which one you chose. The whole exploring became a pain in the ass just to get achievements and some special guns with special skins you never needed. If you explore too much too early you get too much experience and stuff and you become overpowered bc 1) you unlock the special guns early so you don't need to buy the best ones from the regular ones and 2) I had every skill unlocked the moment I could get them bc I had so many skill points gathered at this point.

Thinking about it now I don't know which of these two games I hate more. Probably the Far Cry game bc besides Blood Dragon (which was fun) I never touched a Far Cry game again.

Tbh i remember playing Bioshock Infinite soon after it came out and enjoying it but i don't actually remember much about it, its very possible if i play it now i will have a different view on it, i mostly liked the setting. Crazy how the game came out ten years ago.
