What are the ramifications of the US annexing Alberta?

I don't get it, why doesn't America the bigger and more powerful country simply annex its neighbors and take away their sovereignty?
Would you like to rule over a bunch of whiny canadians?

Though seeing them reduced to a racial minority is pretty funny

More syrup
More oil and wheat, I don't think Alberta even has native maple trees let alone a syrup tapping industry.

The topic is ludicrously optimistic cope, unfortunately. Even within the Prairie provinces there's still limited popular appetite for legitimate separation, let alone annexation into the US. The Sovereignty Act is intended more to goad a response from Ottawa than as any kind of declaration of independence, essentially aiming to get the same kind of goalpost-moving hypocritical relationship with the federal government that Quebec has long set percedent for. Even then if successful it won't kill Canada but likely make the interprovincial relationship much more of a legitimate actual Confederation than the word implies now.

But the American colonies spent 12 or 13 years stuck in back and forth sperging with Britain under the implied insistence that they were themselves British and Trudeau has only been exploiting a broken anti-democratic 'election' system for half that time, so who knows what another 7 years of this horseshit will bring.

Same reason why China hasn't. They already get the benefits of a captive population of 35 million buyers of goods in a wholly one-sided economic relationship along with a placid federal government that is abandoning its own military and doesn't think for itself, with none of the economic or political costs of directly incorporating the population into its own territory and having to care about what they say. It's win-win for the external 'influencers'.

Canada with the exception of Quebec needs to be extricated from the Commonwealth immediately, Canadians in a just society would be our weirdly accented beer swilling neighbors up north who sell us oil, but instead they seem to be consumed by a heinous cocktail of self hatred, and hatred of the people down south who are "ruining everything." This has lead to the vile situation they're in currently, and it needs to be stopped. I'm not advocating for an annexation, the time to do that was 250 years ago, it's too late now, but at the very least they need to be pulled out from the sinking ship that is Britain, so far it's gotten Canada nothing but a whole bunch of dead sons in dumbass wars the British didn't even need to be involved in.

Quebec can be made their own state, they've wanted it for years now, let's see how well they do.
