This meme is such hot garbage. However, at the same fucking time, too bad it's so true to what it talks about as a whole... Look at any of these these shows these fucking characters come from for too long a time and it becomes obvious why this meme sadly becomes what it's all but become: the truth about why we don't see enough different styles, like every past decade at least made some effort to do.

TBH, We Westerners really do need to distance ourselves from CalArts as much as possible, going forward. They alone should not be the only ones giving people in this craft work - especially if it means this meme can finally die in a fire, for starters.

Or more importantly, so Western fare can truly begin to compete with anime again in a believable way so said medium itself doesn't completely die out due to severe lack of interest in it.

I prefer anime since the characters are more appealing to look at and some shows work better when the characters have a human body instead of oddly shaped babies with noodle limbs voiced by 30 year olds.

It didn't look too bad until the redesign but the same thing happened with Steven Universe. I imagine that it's much harder to get an animation budget these days when Adventure Time and Regular Show reveal just how low the bar can be for cartoons now, even when they want to attract an older audience as well.

All of those characters are from Watch_Dogs 2, aka Ubisoft's feeble plea to win back fans after the first game turned out to be all the boring parts of GTA, combined with all the boring parts of Ass Creed. Unfortunately, WD2 decided to double down on the "LULZSORANDUM" style and pretty much alienated most of the hanger-ons who could tolerate the first game.

And speaking of Watch_Dogs and shitty character designs... I gotta mention good ol Magic Phone Aiden Pierce.

I have to commend Ubisoft though - they somehow managed to create a character that is simultaneously boring and yet insufferably annoying.

Effie from Fire Emblem Fates. I couldn't find a picture of her from behind but she's literally a heavily armored knight that wears nothing but thong panties below the waist.

For example, Euro 1988’s rabbit mascot Berni...

was crappily recolored and given the unoriginal name of Rabbit for the 1992 tournament in Sweden.

Another mascot that could be mentioned in this list, in my opinion are the ones for Euro 2012, Slavek and Slavko. Even as a kid visiting family in Poland at the time, I knew that these guys were universally hated. However, I don’t think that the actual designs are bad...

however, the actual fucking costumes that they made to promote it to kids were absolutely fucking horrendous and terrifying.
