I don't know Nomura's design philosophy, but I reckon it's "Symmetry is a grave evil that must be avoided at all costs."

This is some of the most dreadfully fucking boring character design I've ever seen for a main cast in any form of media. For something called "Final Fantasy", it sure as hell doesn't feel very fantastical. It's so dull that it actually makes me feel uninclined to play the game because it makes it look horribly uninteresting.
Compare this to the ninth entry in the series, which is often derided as "kiddy", but you sure as hell can't call it boring.

Doesn't help that in this so called "Final Fantasy" these Hot Topic boy band characters have smartphones; they're mostly driving a car everywhere; have Coleman brand tents; and one of the characters saying "#SorryNotSorry," I kid you not. Really gives off that fantastical atmosphere...![]()
Coleman chair and campfire sponsored by Coleman too I suppose? That and the burly guy shilling for Cup Noodles, and his voice actor sounding less than thrilled about it. There's quests to get ingredients to make the perfect cup of Cup Noodles, and you can visit the Cup Noodles truck.
Keeping with the terrible design theme, the Cup Noodles noodle cup hat:

You can also talk about Cup Noodles whilst eating Cup Noodles and wearing said hat:

(Also visible, Coleman cooler. Just out of frame, Coleman tent and Coleman lantern)

It's bad but at least my eyes are hurting like looking at the other final fantasy image above yours![]()

It's sad when the most distinctive character is the titty mechanic. Why do they all have to wear black anyway?![]()

OH MY GOODNESS! *WEASING BLACK GUY LAUGH!*Crunchyroll proudly announces it's new "original" animated series.

So what do the characters for this venture look li-

Well, it looks like any American cartoon crap, now being shoveled out as a last ditch effort from a fading platform that can't even provide good streaming quality.
Look at our totally original OC anime guys its based on my DeviantArt webcomic that I only drew seven pages a year for before putting it on indefinite hiatus back in 2014 and it's inspired by classic anime like Steven Universe.
Am I the only one that doesn’t have a problem with this? It’s going to have the same standards for anime that every other American “anime” has. Fucking none. It’s Crunchyroll trying to bring in new audiences and to the extent, new revenue (and despite how much the MovieBob thread will say otherwise, that is not a bad thing). Though the attention-seeking-haircut character does look pretty bad, and that’s because I hate dyed-hair-color designs anyway.Crunchyroll proudly announces it's new "original" animated series.

I think a lot of the hate comes from people who don't want the money they gave Crunchyroll to go to this. A lot of the people who are paying for Crunchyroll have the option to pirate but pay because they want their money to support the "anime industry" and possibly help get shows subbed that otherwise would be ignored. To hear that the money they gave them is going into a crappy cartoon instead of in the pockets of studios they want to support or helping Crunchyroll get the rights to sub anime they care about is upsetting.Am I the only one that doesn’t have a problem with this? Dying hair these colors already seems rediculous in retrospect and I hope it dies out soon enough.Am I the only one that doesn’t have a problem with this? it isn't the colored hair that bugs me, it's the generic cal-arts style that bugs meAm I the only one that doesn’t have a problem with this? Personally, I don’t see Cal-Arts. I see more of a low-budget 80s anime. Especially in the Pink-Haired one.it isn't the colored hair that bugs me, it's the generic cal-arts style that bugs me
