What Are The Worst Character Designs You Have Ever Seen?

Are they even still chipmunks, cause sure doesn't look like that to me. They look more like humans with wierd noses and extra facial hair
It's not like their previous cartoons were any better about what sort of animal they're supposed to be

Without the Chipmunks in the title I would think they were supposed to be a fictional species.

These days this doesn't seem to be a popular stance in the general DB fandom, but frankly I'm not a big fan of the design of super saiyan 4:

The weirdly colored fur with the bizarre cleavage that looks like a skin tight blouse half the time, those goofy locks of hair resting on the collar bones, the new pieces of clothes that just appear out of thin air, and especially those stupid red eyeliners make the user of the form look like some imsoniac, washed-up '80s hair metal star turned hobo with hormonal disorders. I'm also not a big fan of the oversized chins and pyramid noses, though that's more of a general GT phenomenon than something exclusive to the form. There are of course artists who can make it look cool, but for the most part I find Super Saiyan God and even Super Saiyan Blue way more appealing.

Even beyond the design's aesthetics I just don't like how the form works, since it just reinforces that the main source of Goku's power is him being lucky enough to be born as part of the Saiyan Master Race instead of training his ass off, as SS4 is basically just taking the two forms exclusive to Saiyans (Super Saiyan and the Great Ape) and mashing them together. At least for the god forms you also need god ki, which for all we know can be achieved by anyone who can withstand training with gods or angels. Sure, there's also that ceremony for the lazy ones, but that's a whole different story...

Only saw this fairly recently, but the new Alvin and the Chipmunks show is just terrible to look at. What are they? Are they even still chipmunks, cause sure doesn't look like that to me. They look more like humans with wierd noses and extra facial hair

These things need to be fucking killed.

Holy fuck, these might be the worst things I've ever seen.

Uncanny valley at its most deservedly hateworthy.

Fun fact: when all the Toys R USs in my area were going out these ugly fuckers were clogging up the stores.

Since you brought up DB
All the characters look the fucking same, how the fuck can people tell the human guys apart?

That's more of a general Manga\Comic thing I think, most of them have some level of samefaciness, be it Eiichiro Oda, Hirohiko Araki, Jim Davis, Jim Lee or Todd McFarlane. Kudos to those graphic novel artists who go out of their way to make all the faces they draw varied, but sometimes you just have to save time when having to produce materal on a monthly, or even weekly, basis and just use stuff like hair or a few unique facial features to differenciate characters from each other. On the bright side, many samefacy artists also have a very distinct, stylized art style which makes them instantly recognizable.

:autism: Some sperging about the character design in Final Fantasy X. Instead of just saying "this is bad" I thought I'd explain my thoughts. :autism:

Auron: famous. Auron's dark, muted tones evoke blood and gloom, a theme explained to us when we find out about his past with Braska. The ultra-masculine geometry of his shoulders and collar belts sync marry beautifully with the imposing angles of his huge swords. His dark glasses provide a visual metaphor for the layer of death separating him from those he sees around him. Auron's design matches his character extremely well. 9/10

Rikku: good design. The goggles and earthy-coloured clothing convey her practical nature (she's the thief, after all) and her girly blond hairdo signals youth and vivaciousness. Her feline eye shape is quite intentional; we often associate thieves with cats ("cat burglar") but her bubbly youthfulness reduces it to a catty mystique rather than a sinister vibe. 7/10

Wakka: okay design. His clothing doesn't really convey much about him, except for his athletic gloves and exposed chest. His narrow eyes hint at his stubbornness, but his irreverent boyish hair gives him a juvenility to counterbalance Lulu's seriousness. 6/10

Tidus: bad. Tidus has characterisation problems in-game, which may have contributed to the disorganised aesthetic of his character, but an androgynous time-traveller wearing leather overalls over a yellow bolero jacket is just a mess. His sword Brotherhood tells you more about him: the water theme evokes Sin, to whom he is inextricably linked, but the character in and of himself is visually pretty poor. 3/10

Yuna: famous and flawless. Her Japanese-style outfit, in gradients of pink, white, violet and purple, conveys her powerful femininity in a way highly evocative of water: a main theme of the game. The sleeves of her pseudo-kimono match her billowing shoulder-length hair, and both create the effect of flowing water. The greatest piece of her design is the obi: the gold cinch around her body is radiant but binding; a visual metaphor for her exalted-yet-terrible duty of being a summoner. Her design is formal, beautiful, dolorous and constricting: the life of a summoner in one image. 10/10

Kimahri: good design. Kimahri is, of course, not human, and his outfit is quite literally not a big part of his look. In a rather obvious metaphor, Kimahri's broken horn represents castration, and he is disgraced from his ultra-masculine (emphasised with his beard and chest hair) culture as a result. 7/10

Lulu: quite a good design. You know before Lulu opens her mouth that she speaks in a low, breathy, sultry voice, because of her vampish style and big tits. She's dressed in gothic-style black, a play on "black mage" but also the black of mourning, as the deaths of Chappu and her old summoner haunt her: this is also the real reason for her quiet, low tone of voice. Lulu looks like a sexy vampire at the outset, but many of her design features are given new meaning as her story unfolds. 8.5/10

Tidus is indeed terrible. His outfit looks ridiculous. As soon as I saw Auron I was like "Why can't he be the main character?".
