Eh, Ollie and Scoops themselves are kinda cute, but agreed on the rest of the cast. In addition to being too on the ugly side, character designs are too disjointed, and there is no sense of harmony or cohesion between them.

trust me, it's gotten really bad. They completely abandoned iconic characters for generic anime-esque ones. I hate how the Morden regime full of giant machines of death are practically useless against the waifu rush meta. And instead of buffing-debuffing units (like the fucking based rebel army)
It's supposed to be kinda ugly. It's set in the 70s, after all (and certain characters, like Sue's mercenary coworker Vivian, look like they were ripped directly from some demented, rejected animated segment from the Sesame Street of the time).
Sounds like it should be up my alley then. I kinda dig period pieces if they're handled well.
It’s depressing when the concept art is better than the final design. Frozen comes to mind.It's tragic when a good or even great character design gets mysteriously thrown out the window and replaced with shit.
I remember Tumblr shoving this anime in all of its ads and people were getting so sick of it.
The hair overall didn't bother me much (nearly all of the characters besides him have okay hair), it was the eyes of the female characters in particular that did. They were spaced out far too much that it could get a bit unsettling or distracting depending on the scene.

The thing that blows my mind is that Sailor Moon already had LGBT characters and handled them better than most of the stuff that comes out nowadays. It’s almost like Haruka and Michiru were characters first and “cousins” second.
The uniforms themselves are fine imo (I prefer simpler outfits like those in Fresh and Heartcatch) but the hair is crazy even by Precure standards. I wouldn’t personally call them bad, they’re at least unique, but their normal hairstyles are cuter.
Haven’t seen How to Draw Manga style art in a while. She'd be cute if the eyes were closer.
I have a feeling that the FPS go down to the single digits when the super forms are on screen. Those designs is how you show your animator how much you hate them.
