Complete with lolis with donkey ears! Seriously, I don't think donkey ears makes an anime girl cuter and easier to take seriously.

Personally I hate the whole "draw an anime girl and then give them animal parts to make them superfically more interesting" thing, it adds nothing of value to the design and I think it's only done to appeal to closet furries. The only time I can think of where a design like that has ever actually worked is in Spice and Wolf.

Interesting, but this is way too cluttered. Remove the garter belt and give him actual pants or a jumpsuit. Removing some of the yellow in the midsection as well could lead an easier read of the design.

Emerald, his eyebrows look like antennae and the pumps are ridiculous. He's a nasty looking little scamp.

I'm sorry, but Rosa looks like shit. Look at that weird skirt-shorts, the shoes, the massive hair buns, the visor, the white pupils. One of those elements would have been an interesting piece on an otherwise grounded design, all of them on one girl though is just ugly.

Most of the ORAS redesigns are great, Wallace however is among the few worse off. The new design just looks goofy and impractical. Compare the ORAS design to his original. He now looks like a gay comic relief in some terrible fantasy anime. The original isn't spectacular, but at least he looks somewhat like a Pokemon trainer.

This is not a bad design, but I want you to take a long look at the anatomy and proportions. A lot of the new art this generation is just off, but his is the absolute worst.

Crucify me but I don't think Kubo is as great of a character designer as some people seem to think he is. I think his clothing choices in some official Bleach art is kinda ugly but he gets away with it because he draws everyone like slender perfect runway models who can get away with haute couture weirdness but even then his pattern/colour combos are kinda...eh. There are many other artists who can do alien high fashion better. And then he does shit like this:

Sure, it's very technically impressive, but it's so... noisy. There's stripes that go all over the place and leopard spots that somehow form on his hair as well as his legs? His hair looks stupid and he's covered in nonsensical, functionless spikes that are so thin they look like they'd snap off if he sits down wrong, he's gonna do more damage to himself than anything.
It honestly looks like an OC design from DeviantArt. I think all of the Espada are getting new designs like that.

I don't like the overalls, it makes her look like a clown too much. It might of been the point from her backstory but still it doesn't look cool. Her new design in FGO is much better.

But as for writing, I like this character's story. There's that weeb cliche of being bullied for big tiddies- but actually the main villian designed her that way on purpose (in a way that others will be enchanted to bully her even if she doesn't do anything to them etc.), and so she'll feel more obligated to "change others" instead of herself. Then she'll lament that her mecha yaoi hands kills everything it touches like how Lennie from Of Mice and Men accidentally kills the small animals he grasps.
Remember, don't judge a book by its cover.

They should of scaled the roster lower initially so people won't feel disappointed in the end- its weird because they've done this type of game (in terms of animation, how long it takes etc.) before and they suddenly forgot everything. Redesigns look like ass, especially Zahra, Ren, and Nuna.

I'm late for this, but what happened to this franchise's designs is fucking tragic. Maybe it's because I used to watch the first season when I was a little kid and have a bit of nostalgia filter, but how the hell can you go from this...

I'm aware of his height complex, though I never made it past the DPPt series so I haven't seen how ORAS handled him.
I still feel it's a dumb design taking everything into account. There are ways to have a character artificially raise their height without looking ridiculous and that don't include eyebrow antennae.

I'm not sure what to think about the trenchcoat but her face reminds me a lot of Asuka Katou from the manga version of WataMote a.k.a. No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular, one of many WataMote characters who have yet to be animated (not that there's any sign of a season 2 coming).

They both have rows of lower eyelashes that are meant to suggest a lower eyelid without having to draw an eyelid line.

Raihan looks a lot better in game than in his official art. And as someone pointed out earlier it’s the puffy jacket that makes everything look off. Most of the SwSh characters look fine in game but weird in their official art in general. It seems like they modeled the characters first then made the official art.

Yeah, the models all look great I don't know where the official art went wrong this gen. I think Sugimori is still doing the humans, but its all wonky clothes, and off proportions.
Models fix a lot of this stuff, like Gloria's pencil neck. Still a little thin, but nowhere near as laughable.
