What Are The Worst Character Designs You Have Ever Seen?

The worst in recent memory has to go to Seraphine, the champion from League of Legends. Her design looks that of a generic magical girl character and doesn't mesh well with the League universe as a whole. The best character designs in the game give you a sense of a champion's playstyle and personality just by looking at them. Seraphine meanwhile has no visible personality whatsoever, outside of generically happy like a Disney princess.

That pose is shit and so is the anatomy.

Whatr your anatomy hot takes.

She looks ready to fall over, no thigh meat, then again that area is usually flatter but still
The lower half of her torso looks long af, the ass isn't that big, or should I say long. How the arm closest to us hurts just to look at and how it's postioned is just awkward, it should be more open, to match the arm in the back, which looks like it's there because they had no idea what to do with it. The leg in front looks like a limp noodle. Other non-anatomy stuff that I now notice: they cut her off at the feet and the pose itself is rather weak, mostly because no one holds a mic out to the audience during a dance routine. Either have her in a power stance holding the mic out or have her in the middle of an attack if the mic is so important.

Edit: I found more shit. Are those wings behind her hair? lmao how the fuck do you fuck that up? They aren't attached to her. She can see forever. I think having her singing in the mic would have been a better idea, eye fucking the viewer or something. And you're right, she looks like she's gonna fall, either over or on her ass, one or the other. I love how the line of site takes your eyes right out of the image lol

You guys are being nitpicky over a generic popstar animu design, the title of this thread should be changed to just Character Design Griefing Thread, since half the shit that's being sperged about is just average or overused and clearly not the worst.
She's a bland and generic design with shit anatomy and posing created by a company that prints enough money to do better.
Its not bad because its a basic muh waifu, its bad because she's all over the place AND is a generic popstar animu character

As gray said, " The best character designs in the game give you a sense of a champion's playstyle and personality just by looking at them. Seraphine meanwhile has no visible personality whatsoever, outside of generically happy like a Disney princess."
And i agree. She looks at nothing but off into space, what's her ability or weapon of choice? Is she a pop star, then wheres the stage? She looks like an addict having a hallucination in an empty parking lot.

Edit: after looking into her lore, she apparently uses the souls of a near extinct race to power her weapons n hoverboard. That's a little funny. Imagine some bubblegum popstar draining your lifeforce to skoot to starbucks even though she can hear your screams.

Not only that, but originally she was able to hear the voices of the Brackern calling out from inside the hextech crystals. It was so incongruous with her character that Riot changed her lore a couple days later to make the source of the "voices" more ambiguous.

The west can't do manga art, change my mind
When is this from? I feel like modern Western manga artists are typically much better than this--which looks like it crawled out from 2001.

I agree that big name Western studios still trend toward hiring artists with outdated, stiff manga styles, but the average professional Western freelance artist who specializes in manga style can do it competently these days, many just as well as their Japanese peers. There's plenty of Americans and French who are professional artists/animators in anime today, after all.

Oh this shit. Yeah, this is from the early 2000's, back when the Manga/anime craze was still going on.

It looks like some 11 year old's DeviantArt.

It looks like this person learned to draw using those scam "How to Draw Manga" books that were crapped out into craft stores back in the early 2000s:

I remember when this image was circling the internet and everyone said she looked like she had Down Syndrome. I think there's an interview with one of the artists responsible for these books.

The top image in particular is just plain horrifying. The one on the right looks like the aftermath of a particularly hardcore hentai gangbang. All she needs are the splooge drips. That face just screams "We're gonna need a new cumdumpster!".

Even with all the cluttered bells and whistles, I find her hair the most annoying thing about her.

It's too cutesy for her outfit, which has too many accessories anyway. Yeah. She really does look randomized.

I'd like to who specifically drew that set of images and what they draw like normally (at least back then). I mean that "fake manga" style fails basic fundamentals so hard it's obvious this person barely knows how to draw at all under their normal circumstances. I'd like to know what their best/next worst thing was and how they got hired (beyond possibly sucking/taking dick). All I know is that aside from the author these books had a selection of uncredited "artists" shitting things out so the lazy as shit author didn't have to draw everything to give it some "variety".

That would be Christopher Hart. Also has a dA gallery and a youtube i couldnt be assed to get a link for right off..
Couldn't tell you how his art actually looks because a lot of it looks traced; his books have gotten at least less insultingly awful over the years but, you know, I'd hope you'd get better when you write dozens upon dozens of these books over the span of 20-odd years. We still get gems of character design like whatever the fuck is going on here, though.

A lot of books released under his name aren't actually illustrated by him. His name is just a brand title basically. More recent ones actually have Japanese artists contributing like this recent-ish line of books.

If you check the inside cover you can usually find the "art director" or "contributing illustrators" but he does actually draw them sometimes. Hart has always been a cartoonist and his actual style looks like this.

Good to know! I figured he wasn't actually drawing them but I didn't know he hired out to other artists. That cat he made the centerpiece of that cover looks fucking weird to me. Don't know if it's the eyes or just the weird little lines that might be either eyelashes or crow's feet, but it's offputting.
Anyway, I bring an anime girl thing supposed to have actually been drawn by him for comparison to his old anime art and the new artists' work.

That’s surprisingly decent, it’s only a little off in the details (specifically the hand pose, legs, tail, and eyes).
