What are you playing right now?

Kinda agree on Mass Effect 1 looking more visually interesting. One of the things I loved about the visuals was the film grain. It gave the game a very retro and nostalgic vibe. Like I was watching an old sci-fi movie from the 80's.

It's a shame that effect was a lot more subdued in 2 and straight up abandoned in 3.
I actually love the film grain to death in Mass Effect. I would never say that about any other game, but it fits perfectly with that 80's vibe like you said. There was also this horribly inaccurate lens flare effect that I liked and I can't exactly place why. It just felt very space-y. Also the camera work seemed to be genuinely more interesting in Mass Effect 1 than the others in my opinion. It tended to be very close to the action/Shepard at all times and only panned out when it really needed to. You can see this very well in the intro.

Played a bit of Fallout 3 on Steam today. At first things worked after using some fix on Steam. However, launching the game an hour later just gave me an error. May as well reinstall the game in the future since for now, I just wanted to see how it would play on Windows 8 without GFWL.

It's not GFWL that's the problem. The game was designed for Dual Core computers. And it was mostly designed for Windows XP and Vista. It's why one of the fixes is to literally enable the game to use more than two CPU cores.

Fallout 3 overall runs probably the worst in my opinion out of all of Bethesda's other games. Morrowind runs fine once you patch the resolution. Oblivion runs great. Skyrim runs okay. Fallout New Vegas upon patched runs great. Fallout 3 is still the one that shits the bed constantly. I've had people disagree with me about it but it is a big reason why I haven't replayed it in a few years.

A suggestion as far as actually getting Fallout 3 to properly run is to use A Tale of Two Wastelands. It converts Fallout 3 to run on the New Vegas engine (so you don't have to deal with the shitty compatibility) and sets up the game in a way so that you start in the Capital Wasteland but after a certain point can hitch a train to New Vegas, starting that game, and you can go back and forth. If you don't like that, you can ignore the train and run New Vegas standalone and still get an engine that actually works.

As for me, I saw a couple of videos of the original Paper Mario and for some reason the music in that particular one (even if The Thousand Year Door is a much better game) always sends me on a feels trip, so I'm doing another play through of it. Seriously, I love that game so much, even back when I was a kid...I might see if my cartridge still works at some point

Playing Wolfestein TNO. Nazi killing never felt so good, the bleak setting makes you enjoy more when you humiliate the enemies.

Ok ok listen HQ, you can either tell me to minimize civilian casulties, or you can give me a 120mm Howitzer battery.

If you do both, I'm going to quote "Go Verdun" on the town full of enemies, even if the howitzers are meant for their tank assault.

Combat Mission, this is specificaly Shock Force, the one about a Desert Storm type war against Syria (This game came out when Al-Assad still had a firm grip on his country), but it applies to the WW2 enteries as well.

I will say it's odd how much more carefully I play in SHock Force than in Battle for Normandy or Fortress Italy. Maybe it's because the expectation that in a one sided war, even a single casualty feels like you fucked up?

Playing through Mass Effect 2 and trying to convince myself to just ignore the overwhelming issues with the game. I'm just focusing on Garrus and Tali being best companions and that's getting me through. Bioware made a mistake giving them both the short end of the stick in conversations.

Arx Fatalis. Lately, after a suggestion from @Watcher and getting a turbo-walk speed in the game, I used Arx Liberatis. Now the game plays much better without getting some memory crash. Only regret I have so far is that I think I broke a side quest since I got far enough in the main quest. Can't get a book for a troll so I might have to reload a previous save from before I have to investigate a local cult.

Lots and lots of Elite Dangerous. I appear to have found my calling as an explorer: I'm over half way to the black hole at the centre of the galaxy now and barring any stupid accidents, I expect to make it there within the next couple of days.

FFXIV cause apparently I'm in the mood for an MMO. Probably will play a week of the trial before getting bored and doing something else.

Well, uh. That didn't happen. Still playing - enjoying healing way too much.

Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth just came out, so I've been sitting on that for now.

Man, that game just kicks my ass no matter what I do.

I finished Wolfenstein NO. Way better than I expected, narrative wise. Wanted to finish the perks challenges but I decided against it to delete it as it takes +50 GB of my PS4.

Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth.

I have to re-unlock EVERYTHING ( Oh god not Suicide King again!) so I'm starting with the challenges. Guardian is unfair because sometimes you die for annoying reasons.

Music is awesome though.

Did you not import your save?

Played a little of Spooky's House of Jumpscares last night.

It's so cute. Yet so unnerving at the same time. I've always hated the feeling of being chased by things.

I'm about 10 hours in to Persona 4 (I'm really, really late on this one) and I love it. It fixes some of the problems that Persona 3 had (although unlearning everything from P3 took a while, and I miss Tartarus at times).
