What are you playing right now?

Been playing FFVI on my modded mini SNES here and there when I have time for it and I've been playing DQVIII on the 3DS as my bedtime game.

Changed my avatar to a hilarious portrait of Marisa Kirisame from the Touhou fan-game Mystia's Izakaya. It's a pretty damned amazing and chill game with a phenomenal soundtrack.

Here's just a sample of the ingame music, played while you're operating your restaurant in the starting area:

Going through the Soul Blazer trilogy on the SNES for the first time (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma)

Still on Soul Blazer and it’s pretty fun. Kind of reminds me of Actraiser or Dark Cloud with the dungeon delving and rebuilding each town. I know the last two are more traditional rpgs but have a really moving (for the time) story so looking forward to that

Enjoy, Terranigma really was a hidden gem on the SNES due to the game only coming out in Japan and Europe.

Btw are you playing on an emulator or flash cartridges?

I've been playing playing Final Fantasy XII and am about to quit. RPGs are usually terrible games, but I've enjoyed a handful over the years. As far as JRPGs go, Final Fantasy I & VI were pretty good, and Tales of Symphonia was pretty fun. I even enjoyed DragonQuest VIII. Given that FF XII has had a rerelease or two, I thought hey, this one might not suck. Nope. This is "press forward to win" garbage. Sometimes you have to grind enemies for a bit to be able to afford spells and gear. I think I'm 8 hours in and have had 0 minutes of fun. This game even fails at being a way to suck away hours of your life in order to hasten death's sweet embrace, as it's so tedious that every hour spent playing it feels like an entire day. There's a rabbit-girl in your party who wears bondage gear, but even that's not enough to save this trash fire of a game.

I’m playing on a RetroPie emulation console. Definitely looking forward to Terranigma after everything I’ve heard about it.

Drakengard 3. I’m close to unlocking branch D. 5 more weapons to go.

After that FF9.

So, I finished the game. The final boss was a bitch but when I want to finish something, I finish it. Made ending D all the more satisfying.

And computer broke so can’t play FF9 unless I pay up on another platform lmao.

Bought Nioh for like $6 to see if I like Dark Soul-like games. It just seems like all the parts of other games smushed together into a way that's less than the sum of its parts. It's got the logic of a fighting game, but the camera work and stats of an action RPG. It just feels clunky to me and feels stop and go to me. Meh music doesn't help with immersion either. I didn't play Legacy of Kain (I saw a friend play it), but I guess it's a similar experience?

For comparison, I was also playing DMC3 afterwards and noticed how that old game does its best not to interrupt the flow of combat while Nioh constantly does. Sure, DMC will make fun of me if I lose, but being so agile helped its gameplay. Even DMC2 got that element of combat right. Nioh is like going back to DMC2 without that flow or style.

code vein. dark souls: anime edition. i really didint like it at first but the gameplay is starting to pick up. too bad it happened in the worst area of the game where most people quit.

Spyro the Dragon. I haven't played it in a few years. What a cute, colorful, fun game. No identity politics. Just running around torching sheep, rescuing dragons and chasing egg thieves. Makes me nostalgic for the old days.

Decided to finally stop playing elden ring until it gets an expansion or a major content update I was planning to just got back to finishing up The witcher 3 blood and wine expansion but I Just got Metal gear rising for $5

I have way too many games in my backlog and every time I try to make a dent in it I find some new interesting game that I end up playing instead. Anyways I've been having fun playing through Crimson Skies on the original Xbox. That alternate 1920s/30s aesthetic is just what I need right now.

Decided to go for a pallet cleanser and bought Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe. I had the mobile version a few years back, but I didn't get far because doing the more complicated stuff on an iPhone is a bit of a pain in the ass.

I really love how involved it all is. Having to check on guest feedback and making adjustments, micromanaging your staff, adjusting paths to prevent congestion, advertising your park, ect. It's nice to play this while having something else on in the background.

Kinda wish my mechanics had better pathing though.

Super Robot Wars 30's DLC just came out, so I've been playing that. Aside from a couple of bugs related to the DLC, it's pretty fun. I've also been replaying Another Century's Episode 3 since I'm on a giant robot kick apparently.

How ironic, I’ve been playing the series’ Reignited Trilogy after getting into a rut with Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

I’m still on the fence about a couple of the changes made to the games but I’ve become more accepting of some of the ones I had a major hang-up (especially swapping the actual guns used by the Gnorcs in Twilight Cove with Splatoon-esque goo guns) with after doing more research and discovering the actual reason behind the changes.

Indiana Jones and the emperor's tomb. I'm so glad a lot of the old 2000s Era Lucas arts games are getting backwards compatible re releases.
