What are you playing right now?

Songs of Syx is pretty cool.

I play it and I suddenly realize 4 hours later that I spent time playing it.

Totally into it.
Love this game. It's a great mega-Rimworld that takes a lot of cues from the Anno series regarding logistics and industry, and it's only getting better. Plus the visual effects are cozy, with pixelated petals flying across white fields in spring, or leaves falling from trees in Autumn. As soon as the dev adds snow it'll be perfect. The music is the only thing that grates me. It's pleasant, but limited and I swear one of the songs is just a slightly remixed version of the Skellige theme from Witcher 3.

I'm currently torturing myself trying Kerbal's RP-1 mod again. I'm surviving this time, once you get past the relentless autism of avionics and tank config and the even more relentless autism of aerodynamics, it's actually not too bad.

I'm one of the two people in the western hemisphere that owns a PS5 so I've recently been going through Cyberpunk in lieu of other things to play. I think that game has one of the absolute worst first impressions I've ever experienced in a massive RPG of its type, I'd say outside of all the glitches and bullshit, that was the game's silver bullet. It doesn't have a real Act 1, or rather, it does but it feels completely off pacing wise.

That aside though, the game's honestly not that bad. Not a world changer, but a really solid and enjoyable open world action RPG, I'd argue it's about on the level of the newer Deus Ex games, but just grander in scale. Worth picking up on sale if you have the hardware to run the fucker.

FightCade 2 has been adding a bunch of different hacks to their game list for people to play. One of them being "Streets Of Rage 2 Street Fighter Versions 1 - 4", and surprisingly, they're done semi-well

Version 1 - Dhalsim, Ryu, Guile, Ken
Version 2 - Cammy, DeeJay, ChunLi, FeiLong
Version 3 - Blanka, Honda, Zangief, T.Hawk
Version 4 - Boxer, Dictator, Sagat, Claw

The characters aren't just simple sprite swaps of the OG 4 SOR2 cast, they have their own unique attacks copied from the SF2 games. The reason why I said these hacks are done "semi-well" is because you can clearly tell some characters got more love and attention while others were just an after thought. Characters like FeiLong, Boxer, Dictator, and Cammy are fun as fuck to use. Version 3 however is the weakest version. Some of their special attacks are just normal moves (Zangief's HP, T.Hawk's MK, etc...), which is upsetting for someone like me who mains Zangief and Honda in actual SF2.

Can't seem to find a link for these other than YouTube videos that don't have any sources themselves in the description (and won't even say where they got the rom from in the comments section). May have been just one-and-done hacks, but if not, I'm hoping they get improved upon because there is MAJOR potential in these hacks.
Usually with ROM hacks, you have to patch the original file. romhacking.net or archive.org are good places to start looking. There's a lot of SOR 2/3 hacks out there, some are really good like Simpsons of Rage. I also like SOR2 Syndicate Wars a lot. Basically you can play as any character (both heroes and bad guys) from all three games.

I'm playing through Stray. Honestly I agree with Dunkey's assessment that this game wouldn't have been worth shit if you didn't play as a cat. But I don't really care since it's so heckin adorable. Sometimes it's nice to just switch your brain off and enjoy something this on-rails with some good feels.

Maybe I'll check out stray. I liked journey and flower for that reason.

I've always loved Fleischer rubberhose animated characters, but never checked out Bendy and the Ink Machine since the fan base is pretty spergy and I'm usually not impressed with children's horror games (granted, I'm an adult so I don't mind that I'm not the target demographic). It was...mildly interesting? The story and lore, I mean. The game play is just a series of boring fetch quests and a few jump scares sprinkled in. But the meta shit being a big nod to Ubb Iwerks and Walt Disney's falling out and the concept of turning living people into cartoon characters from a horror perspective is a cool idea.

Trying to play my NES today, but I keep getting that classic Blinking Red Light phenomena on the console.

Now, I will have to do more cleaning (if possible).

I had that issue with mine. I fixed it by tearing the console apart and bending the cartridge slot pins back in place and cleaning them.

Also started using a flashcart to not wear the pins out any farther.

Playing Trails in the Sky for the first time and now I get why ppl like Falcom so much. Really like the story, the world, the music and characters. I'm just not a fan of them railroading you in terms of who you can have in your party. Also timed side missions suck. I'll probably move on to the sequel since I like this one so much.

I got Arcade Paradise a few days ago and have been playing it some. It’s a simulator where you manage a laundromat, but slowly turn it into a thriving arcade, with 30 arcade games that are actually playable as you buy their cabinets.

It’s good so far, but the writing is raising some red flags. It supposedly takes place in the early 90s, but the one arcade game I’ve played uses slang like “doggo” and “fam”. The people coming into the laundromat look more like they came out of modern Los Angeles than the small 90s town it’s supposed to be. In-game newspapers say something like “Shock and terror! Your neighbor might be a liberal!” And the story revolves around a college dropout being forced by his old-fashioned business tycoon dad to get a real job and sticking it to him by turning the place into a successful arcade while OWNING his IGNORANT dad with FACTS AND LOGIC that he DENIES because he’s IGNORANT.

So far it all reeks of diversity-loving writers saying “screw you dad video games are totally a real job!!!” (game dev is, but that’s not the point). I’d be shocked if at least one of the devs didn’t have major daddy issues.

Yakuza 6 with a side of Warhammer: Vermintide 2. I know people have said that Yakuza 6 is kind of a disappointing ending to the original saga, but about 15 hours in I'm enjoying it enough to continue playing it. Akiyama being scared of Chinese gangsters to the point of needing Kiryu to come bail his ass out is a bit of a weird character turn after 5 though.

Vermintide 2 is great fun so far, and my only real complaints are that game performance is kind of hitchy even on a decent system, and that pubbies do stupid shit all the time, but I guess that's par for the course in multiplayer games.

Subnautica. I had moderate expectations going in and didn't really read anything about it. I just knew it was well-liked and that it was an aquatic survival game. Pleasantly surprised to find that it's also a horror game with a story that totally catches you off guard if you aren't expecting it. Highly recommend playing it (go in blind, trust me it will be way more enjoyable) even if you aren't into survival games as the crafting and resource management is pretty light. It's really more of an exploration game with some survival mechanics.

Also been playing Yakuza Like a Dragon and loving it. I have played one other Yakuza game before and for all the talk about how wacky the games are didn't really feel it and I think it was because of how stiff and gruff the main character is. Really wasn't much of a character at all to me. There's a big cast of characters in this with many you can get in your party and none of them are annoying and the writing is decent even in the more serious parts of the game. I also like the main character, Kasuga. He's a goofball but in a charming way. The turn based combat is kind of lame and gets repetitive fairly quickly, but I'm enjoying it enough to finish it I think.
