What are you playing right now?

I'm replaying Uncharted 4 since I first got it as a pack-in with my PS4 in 2015. It was my first experience with the series, as I never had a PS3. I eventually got the collection of the first three games from PS+ a while back and played through them consecutively.

My first run was on what's essentially normal difficulty, and this time I'm playing thru hard difficulty. I might attempt Crushing if I've still got interest afterwards, but damn the enemies are relentless. Might need to engage with the stealth mechanics over gunplay to get thru it, but if I'm forced into a firefight I'm taking advantage of infinite ammo grenade launcher.

The Black Reliquary mod for Darkest Dungeon. So far, it feels great. Can't wait until other QoL mods are either recreated or made compatible. Also finally got around to playing the God of War reboot and despite how much of a mainstream normalfag game is it, I really like it.

Been playing a lot of Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead recently. Haven't touched it in a year or two, and I think my last run was in Bright Nights, so it's interesting to see all the changes. Some of them (fucking pockets splitting inventory items) are tedious, but can be a little useful when you've got an idea of how they work. I'm glad they finally added static electrical grids, even if it's still half-jank and requires you to do things like string appliances together with extension cords. Stuff like the portal storms are sufficiently weird and a bit scary, but not as scary as me accidentally finding a nearby town that's host to an underground nightmare flesh structure full of body horror monstrosities. It made the mi-gos standing around outside the city look like chumps.

I find it funny that apparently there's another fork made in the last month or so called There Is Still Hope (TISH). A contributor got so sick of the "lead" devs being smug pricks and decided he'd be better off doing his own thing, which is probably the best decision, I'll have to see what his fork's all about. One dev put DDA on Steam with the only addition being Steam achievements (wow!) for an absurd $20, with the positive reviews mostly being the other lead devs. It makes the Dwarf Fortress Steam release look like a v1.0 product, especially with their whole "No, we're not listing the game as early access just because it's in-development and has bugs. If bugs make something EA, then Skyrim is EA!" argument they're doing. I think mentioning other forks on the Steam forum actually gets your post removed. Still, the game's good, even if Garande and the others are as dumb as ever.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

I was pleasantly surprised with the first one last year, but this one so far feels like a big step back, though I'm only about 6 hours in.

The battle system is definitely going to take some getting used to, especially because I keep forgetting that you can't attack while moving like in XC1. The skill tree is a bit cluttered, upgrading Poppi seems like it's going to be a pain in the ass, and I can already tell I'm not going to like getting new blades from crystals.

The game's sense of humor and characters are not my thing. While the first one was still very anime, it was mostly grounded in its cheesiness (for a game like this) and the humorous scenes weren't super wacky. This game does away with that right from the get-go, especially with the anime overreactions (you know the ones; sweat drops, blank eyes, etc.) and Rex yelling at everything.

I usually don't mind dubs, but I downloaded the Japanese voice patch for this one because the Scottish and Welsh accents were getting annoying, especially with the guard enemies that sound like Shrek.
I read that Pyra's English voice actress said the cast was mostly kept in the dark in regards to voice direction (sometimes only given one take for certain lines), and I believe her, because Pyra and Nia sound like they don't give a shit, and Rex sounds like he's simultaneously underacting AND overacting.

Gave up on Factorio. What a slog.

The first 10 minutes were fun. But that's about it. Then it was all about "wait for research to complete" and "wait for next batch of items to produce". At least Vampire Survivor shows flashy stuff while you're waiting.

Logistics robots made the game worse. Optimization puzzles were no longer a necessity so game became from optimization and waiting to just waiting. And research is fucking slow, even if you have 50 labs.

The bugs/enemies felt more like a chore than a threat. They never really attacked and disposing of them was very easy.

I wanted to play till I get to space or till I win the game, but it's just waiting at this point and not worth it. There's better automation/building games out there, and Factorio is nowhere near the best.

Replaying Telltale's The Walking Dead, just finished Episode 1 of Season 2

Jesus Christ what a miserable fucking experience that episode is. Miscarriages, dog killing, the graphic stitching up scene... Don't remember being this affected by it the first time i played, but this time around i got genuinely upset at the scene with the dog. Knew it was coming and it still got me. (According to the stats screen people were 50/50 on this particular decision, which i find fucking shocking and i will judge you harshly if you didn't put the damn mutt out of it's misery)

Also forgot how little your choices really matter in the long run. Throughout Season 1 i was being as big of a dick possible, game ends the exact same way.

Episode 2 of the first season is fantastic though, shame it never really got that good again. Thinking about finally giving Season 3 and 4 a try. Never played them before cause i didn't really felt it necessary to follow Clementine after Season 2, but i got the series on a sale, might as well just do it.

Space Cadet Pinball on the Steam Deck. It sort of makes me cherish having an awful internet connection when I was young simply because I got to spend hours on this game alone.

Been going back and replaying franchises I enjoyed. Did Assassin's Creed 1 last year and recently replayed the second one.

I don't know why, but I didn't enjoy it as much this time. Maybe because I was just powering through the story, but it felt so... meh compared to the last time I played it. It could also be because I know what to expect and a lot of games took ideas from the series and expanded on them. I still had fun, but it's making me reconsider going back to the others.

Also got the urge to go back to the Gamecube and finish campaigns I never completed. Started with 1080 Avalanche. I don't think I ever played it as a teen, I just bought it during a game store's closing down sale and forgot about it. Was okay, though there's not really much to the game. And the tricks were as pointless as the first one since they tended to just waste time you need to get ahead of the other guy.

Anyone else ever get the random urge to go back to something you've had for a while but never beaten just to do it?

Firework pretty good little japanese spooky folklore game. Hasn't had any jumpscares yet just a nice creepy tone.

Replaying GTA5. Some say the storyline is shit, but I've always adored it. That and it'll be years until VI comes out.

Also, Rockstar,

I should be able to cheat as much as I want in singleplayer, because I own the fucking game. At least give us a cheat menu or something for 100%ing the game. Cucks.

I don't think the story is bad per se, even though it's larping as Heat. I just think the characters are terrible, especially Franklin. Just wish.com CJ whose only identifiable characteristic is that he's a nigger.

Still playing Isaac. I finally graduated up to doing Hard Mode checkmarks, and unlocked most of the regular characters. Only one I'm missing is the Keeper, who I'll have to grind Greed Mode out to get.

Just finished Wu Long. It's very ok but I wish they just made Nioh 3 instead. I had like 150 hours in that game and I'll probably never play this again.

I don't think the morale system is very good. What's the point of leveling up and collecting gear when you start off every level weak as shit because you haven't raised any flags?

The animations are also extremely janky and there's tons of clipping on clothing and character models.

It's very cheap looking and plays like it too.
