What are you playing right now?

Just beat Yakuza 0's story. I put in 80 hours and am still only at 58% game completion. After I finish some more of the side content I'm going to need a long break before jumping into Kiwami.

Also I've been playing Mount and Blade. I finally got assigned to be the Marshall for my Kingdom and managed to take 2 castles that were promptly retaken because I had no men to garrison them and the Lords I ordered to camp in them decided to leave and follow me around.

Giving Arms another go after 3.0 update which allows for custom controls. FUCKING FINALLY. My game play speed has double and Lola Pop is just a bouncing wrecking ball. I am finally having fun with it now. I might even give competitive another whirl and all because I can map guard to a button.

So, I had a go at Echo today, which I saw on GOG.com and the concept (a shooter / stealth game where the enemies are all clones of you and learn from your playstyle) looked interesting. I had a go at it and it was slow to get going but that's okay; I have patience and an attention span. However the Palace in which it is set all looks the same, almost never varies, is maddeningly impossible to navigate or anything, and the constant repeating floor texture that NEVER VARIES and the gold foil everywhere and suchlike gave me a headache after an hour or so, and that was in 4K no less. The "banter" between the protagonist and her voice-with-an-internet-connection mission control AI was annoying and little more than an excuse for infodumps as well.

Sorry, people, but an interesting concept only gets you so far. I may come back to it but it's getting a thumbs down from me.

I got a copy of Drakengard today. Thought it was boring back when I was a teenager and never played far. Still think the combat is boring (minus the dragon bits), but I now know the value of grinding. Plus sometimes you just want that power fantasy, even if the game calls you out on it.

Conan Exiles

Couple of friends bought it for me and I was really pleasantly surprised. Things take times, you can lose it all in an instant- it's very EverQuest in that regard. That said, I can see why some don't like this kind of game and it's very Early Access. Still tons of fun if you like crafting, building, killing and hiding.

That was my jam back in school. We'd post up for the weekend at a buddies with all our computers and play all night.

Shovel Knight and Hollow Knight. I play one until I get stuck and then I switch to the other and play until stuck again.
