I recently downloaded Terraria and X-COM: UFO Defense. In the former, I have no idea what I'm doing and just keep fucking around. In the latter, I have no idea what I'm doing and just keep fucking around.
If you're new to Terraria, it's a good idea to check out the wiki just to get a handle on the basic mechanics, because some of them aren't really intuitive, especially the house building. It's got a much more forgiving learning curve than, say, Minecraft, but it's still bewildering for a new player. If you're really having trouble, just gather up enough pumpkins to craft the pumpkin armor set; it's fairly powerful early game.
As for me, I've gotten back into Pokemon HeartGold, and I'm grinding my A-team up enough to take on Red.
And in Terraria, I've gone crazy enough to try to get the fourth key mold, and have set up a grinder for Hallowed enemies. That Rainbow Gun better be worth the effort.
Those are pretty rare, but if you can get one early, it's a good weapon. When you start having to forge your own swords, stick to broad swords. The speed of short swords doesn't outweigh their awful range. Also, if you're still on the surface, it's a good idea to try to find a surface chest, loot it, dig it up with your pick, and bring it back to your spawn point so you have a place to store your stuff.
Also, stay out of the Corruption (the place with purple grass) or the Crimson (red grass) until you have some decent armor and a grappling hook, and don't ever throw away anything marked 'Material' unless you're absolutely sure you'll never need it.
Played some Dark Souls using a pyromancer character whose appearance I tried to base off of Terry Crews to the best of my ability with the face gen. Later thought of playing with a Tommy Wiseau looking character whose class would be derprived.
Brutal Doom is more than Doom on steriods. It's Doom if you took the violence from games like Hotline Miami, mixed it up with speed and adrenalin, took some of the RIP AND TEAR from the Doom comic, mix it in a bowl and blender, and you get something that makes Doom tons of more fun than it previously was. Never has beating up Hell Knights with your fist, flipping off a cyber-demon, and making an former human scream in pain been more delightful.
Right now, I'm playing Grand Theft Auto V, and I also started working on Castlevania Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate HD. It's a surprisingly fun little game.
As far as GTAV is concerned, it's fuck-mazing. But every time I switch to Trevor, I find him drunk on a lonely hilltop, sometimes wearing women's clothing. It's a little weird.
Final Fantasy XIII. I used to be a big FF fan and it was only 7 bucks. Not really liking how automated the fights have become. On the second disc with 20+ hours and it still feels like I've been playing one giant prologue. I've yet to gain the ability to explore the world freely or return to old locations. I'm a bit bummed in that regard. I always loved exploring and doing sidequests. FF7 and 9 had that in spades.
Anyone have any general non-spoiler tips? Best components for giving weapons/gear XP bonuses and which ones give the biggest XP payouts? I've been using Sturdy Bones and then Turbo-something.

There's some components you can get that give ridiculous XP, but I don't remember what they were. It's not really something you need to worry about too much.
As for gameplay, if you've sunk 20+ hours in, you should be getting close to Chapter 11, a gigantic sandbox area and the biggest reason I think FFXIII is a fairly good game.
Phew, thanks. The story is alright so I'm actually caring what happens next. Sahz is my favorite character. It must be difficult being the only black guy in the world.
I got Pokemon X. I wanted Mega Charizard X when I saw he was a bigger, blacker dragon . I play all the main series Pokemon games and I think this might be taking over from my previous favorite, Pokemon Crystal.
I beat Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate : We Need More Subtitles HD this morning. It was fun, fun enough that I might try to get 100% of, the castle unlocked.
Decided to turn on the PS3 for some Metal Gear Solid 2. Played through the Tanker chapter and about maybe 5% into the Plant chapter, after Vamp kills the SEAL's and Raiden comes across Snake whose dressed in a Navy SEAL uniform.
Path of Exile. It's like Diablo 3 if it was made by the people that made Diablo 2. In other words, not shit.
I still REALLY, REALLY want to do a Plinkett style review of Diablo 3 explaining how it is still the greatest video-game related disappointment of my entire life. It completely trumps the absolutely amazing concept of All Points Bulletin flunking within the first month of release.
