What are you reading right now?

I really have to share this bit from The Disaster Artist, knowing how many people here are fans of the movie. It makes the whole book worthwhile:

I've been on a bit of Stephen King binge lately and now I'm reading Firestarter. I have to say, Stephen King has some serious writing chops. You look at all the books he's put out and you think that he's one of those quantity over quality guys, but that is not the case.

He's not the greatest writer ever though. He has a tendency to be formulaic and he draws things out more than they need to be. Still though, I have to give credit where credit is due.

I just finished China Mieville's short story collection, and now I'm reading Endymion by Dan Simmons and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clark.
I've been meaning to read the latter for ages, and since there's a television adaptation in the works I figured I'd better get started. I'm two chapters in and I can already tell I'm in for something special.

I've been reading Neuromancer by William Gibson. It's credited for popularizing the cyber punk craze, so I was curious about it. So far, it's pretty interesting. A little hard to follow since Gibson doesn't dwell too long on details, so the novel reads at a breakneck speed, but I'm compelled to finish it and the trilogy it belongs to.

This is gonna sound really pretentious but I'm actually reading the Iliad on Project Gutenberg, it's actually pretty good when you get past all the exposition.

High Weirdness by Mail by Reverend Ivan Stang. A book listing crazy people that you can reach by mail. Pre-internet lolcows, if you will.

I'm reading Please Don't Tell My Parents I'm a Supervillain. Not really my normal thing, but a friend kept pestering me to read it. And promised if I did I could dictate the next book she reads.

Still trying to decide what to make her read.

Since I'm home for spring break, I'm reading my old books on ancient Egypt. I used to be the local "expert"/sperg on ancient Egypt during my teens and early twenties. Rereading my collection, I now remember why. Ancient Egypt is great!

Started on West of Sunset by Stewart O'Nan. Basically, a chronicle of F Scott Fitzgerald's twilight years in Hollywood. Love that time and place, so was gonna read it eventually. Colorful with a pinch of melancholy, which is fitting for Fitz.

Just got the book Abuse of Power by Michael Savage today and 4 chapters in. Very intriguing and well written. I'm not a big fan of thrillers, but this is a major exception.

A photo of the cool cover on my bedroom floor. I don't know why, but laying on my carpet floor reading a lot more comfortable than my bed

I have four books I'm finishing up (Robots of Dawn, Vespers by Ed McBain, the Centauri Device, and a Warhammer 40k novella). About to start on the Inspector Morse series by Colin Dexter.
