i only know a few and theyre perfectly good friends of mine. they get trashed as fuck practically every weekend but that seems to just be because they had fuck all else to do back home (they used to live up north and now they live in the big city). just means theyre fun to party with. lots of talk of being abused as children, addictions, money disputes, crime, all that stuff. makes me sad because theyre cool as fuck if not a little nutty because of it all

here are terms that today are translated "two-spirit" in pretty much every Indian language from Mexico north and anthropologists 150 years ago noticed them pretty much everywhere.

This is true, but you basically said it yourself further on: The majority of the time what they were referring to were male homosexuals, not trannies. Gays were not allowed to be full men in terms of status or entitlements within the tribe, and they were expected and even forced to take on more feminine traits, clothing, mannerism, etc. This was how a lot of tribal societies dealt with gay men historically. But I think it's important to distinguish between how tribes thought of and dealt with gay men, verses how they would think of and deal with transexuals, especially modern day trannies.

I only ever really met one personally before I left the southwest. Very nice guy but he was easily around 300 pounds in his mid-20s and stunk like cat piss every time he came into my job (he wasn't shy about telling us his cats pissed all over everything). He'd drop a few grand each visit on rare vinyl and equipment and would pay everything off without fail if he needed us to hold stuff for him. He told us he did electrician work but my coworker and I always suspected he would come spend his gibs on records when they hit his account. He came back once after buying a very expensive metal record to ask if we had another one because one of his cats got to it and shredded the cover, which meant the record got destroyed too.

Otherwise I grew up being told that Natives were all alcoholics and methheads which was the only impression I was given of them for a long time.
