Thanks to @XYZpdq thread on what to do with leftover dried mash potatoes, I figured this might be a useful thread. Personally, I am making a batch of dumplings today. I usually make a decent amount and freeze them, but I always have a crazy amount of recently canned water chestnuts leftover. What the hell can I use them for?

Curries is always a good option.

Stir fry.
Edit: To be clear, you can fry them with some peanut oil and just about any other kind of vegetable either plain, or with your choice of soy sauce, teriyaki, or Worcestershire sauce.
You can add a protein with the mix, eat plain, or as a veggie side with anything else.

Chopped water chestnuts make an awesome addition to American style Thanksgiving stuffing.

I'm making a broccoli ginger stirfry tonight, so I'll do that. I will still have some left over, but it'll put a dent in it.

If you want to get a little crazy you can slice them, give them some heat for a minute, then add them to mashed potatoes to give you a texture surprise.
Or use them as a salad topping.
The sky's the limit.

The husband isn't a fan of the texture, that's the issue. I really appreciate the suggestions though. I might sub Wood ear mushrooms in my dumplings next time so I get some crunch, but don't waste water chestnuts.

Also, if they're whole and not already sliced, they're really good if you wrap them in bacon, secured with a toothpick, and then baked until the bacon is done, and then coated with either barbecue or teriyaki sauce.

water chestnuts are a good snack anytime more-so patted dry and with soy sauce or spicy oil. i used to eat them as a kid, haven't bought them in a while but there's no need to even adulterate them.
hope this isnt a waste of space, its technically a recipie i guess. gotta love that crunch man.

I ended up with Korean black bean paste recently. No idea what to do with it outside of that black bean sauce noodle dish and dipping onions in it.

Brown lentils- I was given 5lbs of them. I have made Indian curries with them, but not sure what else to do with them to where it doesnt taste like the same dish.

Stew... just get some vegetables and meat and cook everything on low heat for a couple of hours.

I adore water chestnuts and yes stir fry is my fav way to use them.

Now to the brown lentils, 5406956845098640 ideas, stewing is easiest home made fallalf etc. Not to be mean, just google lentils. They kick ass and do everything.

Now to put my idea issue in, I just got a 30lb sack of basmati rice, not to brag but I make the worlds best fried rice, I eat a lot plain with chicken. So if anyone has some sticky rice ideas or other more "exotic" ideas please shoot em.

I'm a big fan of onigiri so that might work, not the traditional rice to use but still...
Also random, but if you have pets, make some fresh food. My very old cat had the runs last week so I made some sensitive tummy food that was basmati rice and boiled chicken breast . She is doing much better and I think this will be most of her diet now.

Gimbap, basically Korean sushi rolls.
Curry with rice.
Djuvec rice.
Rice salad (something like add protein, black beans, corn, jalapenos, dressing)
Stuffed & fried rice balls (like Sicilian Arancini)
Maybe try sweet rice-milk-pudding?
