Currently this is my setup.

Receiver: Pioneer VSX1016TXV
Satellite's:Boston Acoustic's cr55 2x
Sony ss-cnp69 center channel
Onkyo SKM 320s L+R
Sub: SKW-320x 8" Down Firing 75w ( I got the whole system for 20$ blow me. )
Using optical out of my p.c

Preamp: Emotiva XMC-1 (not... entirely recommended)
Amps: Crown PA amps
Mains: Customs my friend built based on the EPI 1000 design
Center: Custom acoustic suspension, 1x8" driver and a dome tweeter designed to match the mains
rears: Epicure 20s
Sub: none the mains go below 20 just fine
Most everything comes out of the PC over HDMI.

It's a weird setup with.... quirks.

Oh do go on with the quirks.

First and foremost is the Emotiva thing. It is good especially for the price but it's programmed by retarded monkeys. It also has a "feature" where it goes into soft-mute at -90db as some kind of speaker protection bullshit. Which is fine unless you're listening to electronic music of many sorts which has passages of digital silence, then you miss notes as it comes out of mute. (Edit: I also had to turn off its network interface because if you ran nmap across it, it locked up the whole thing. I reported the bug with detailed info and the official response was "Oh that's weird, don't do that." The response to people complaining about the -90db mute was also literally "Listen to better music".)

The Crown Class D amps are big powerful and sound really VERY good. They have a poor noise floor, though. Crown apparently has taken notice that hi-fi people are doing this and new versions improve on that. Cheap as chips, too. And for funsies I wired the center for bi-amp and used the spare channel of one of the Crowns to work it as an active crossover setup with a single 4-pole speakon connector.

The setup as a whole is great. It has a big bass bump that I tried to dial out once and it ended up sounding worse so I took out the EQ curve. It's what you'd expect from 2' square 7' tall mains.

I'd get a pic but people'd house dox me, uwu.

For just general use I just use my PC with some HD600s.

For everything else, most of my equipment, sans speakers, is from the late 70's.
Amplifier: Realistic STA-2100D
Turntable: Technics SL-235
Tape Deck: Pioneer CT-F750
Speakers: Jamo S 809.

The amps got a funny issue where the right channel will cut out briefly then come back on. Not sure where the issue is, but I did have to completely rebuild the left/right channels a while back because they blew up.

HD600s are great, truly.

I use a schiit magnius and modius for my DAC and amp. That all feeds either my IEM's, LCD 2C, or aeon closed x headphones.

i have a steinberg ur12 interface as basically an amplifier and a sound card and i just use my audio technica headphones. anybody got recs on cheap studio monitors that are worth a damn lemme know.

regular ass speakers and these $300 Sennheiser Headphones my friend gave me after he bought more expensive headphones.

Amp: Harman Kardon HK6100
Turntable: Technics SL-1900
CD: Sony CDP-715
Streaming: Chromecast Audio
Speakers: Jmax QHR-125 bookshelfs
Cans: Sennheiser RS 160

A pretty old school setup. 2 channel stereo, no subs or external DACs. It's in a smaller room so I don't need a lot of power to fill it nicely. Sounds decent enough, but I can see myself upgrading the speakers at some stage. A decent set of wired headphones would be nice too.

How cheap? There are perfectly cromulent studio monitors out there for $50 a pair, but properly good ones tend to start at around $150. ELAC gets a lot of love from the audio community, maybe try a pair of their entry level speakers.

$150 bones aint too steep for me. im looking for more like studio monitors for mixing and making music. idk if regular bookshelf speakers would do but im no expert on the subject of course.

You'd probably want the most accurate and neutral speakers you can get for the money, then. I can't think of any off the top of my head, though there'd have to be something decent at the $150 price point.

Audio Interface - Scarlett Solo Gen 3 (Got it for my guitar, but I use it for all audio now because my PC's headphone jack is fucked).

Headphones: Phillips SHP9500s with custom pads. Really good for the price (I got them on sale for $60)

I've yet to fully install my system since moving, but hopefully in the next couple weeks I can get everything set up.

Pioneer CR-840. (Reciever)
- beautiful silver face, metal knobs with some weight to them, I really love the look of it.

Sonos Faber Veneer 2.0 (Speakers)
- overkill speakers but they're gorgeous

Schiit Bifrost (DAC)
- Mostly interested in analogue sources, but still listen to plenty of digital/Spotify

Project Debut (Turntable)
- Packed this thing away for awhile and when I pulled it back out, the motor was dead, so I'll be looking into a new turntable soon, hopefully a decent upgrade, something vintage

Nakamichi 300, Akai CS-702D (Cassette decks)
- got tons of decks, but these are the ones that consistently work.

Sony TC-366 (Reel to Reel)
- Most recent purchase, so excited about finally getting into reel to reel. It's a good beginner deck to wet my feet.

Bottlehead Crack (headphone amp)
- This thing is in limbo for a little while since I recently sold my Mr Speaker Alpha Dog headphones, but I'll get back into headphones eventually.

My receiver is a Sony STR K790 from my husband's basement
I got two Pioneer CS-05 table end speakers
And an Audio Technica AT-LPW30TK turntable

I am in the market for a new receiver because the basement receiver doesn't have it's remote and I can't manually adjust levels... Just use presets.

The Fisher 50 watt tube amp
Thorens Turntable
1960’s speakers with original 18” JBL speaker cones
