What game did you finish today?

I finished Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on the Wii U last night. Lots of memories of playing that on my Gamecube, but now in HD. Now it's time to try and finish Scribblenauts Unlimited.

I just finished playing through Murdered: Soul Suspect. I have a soft spot for new IPs and "middle market" games, and really had my eye on this one when it was first announced. The game itself isn't really that bad although decidedly feels undercooked. Ending was just... lousy. I've played my share of easy boss battles before, but this one was literally run to one spot, hit five buttons, win the game.

Still, for people wanting to try something different, try this out if you can get it for cheap. It's very reminiscent of Ghost Trick and Geist (does ANYONE remember Geist?), but doesn't get close to their level of greatness.

Replayed the fangame Corpse Party D2: Depths of Despair. I really enjoy the writing in that game, and the ending once again made me sad. It was a "good" kind of sad, but it was still sad. I'm really looking forward to the next one -- which shooooould be out sometime this year, hopefully.

I also gave Misao a try.
...Those were a lot of bullshit deaths.
...A fucking telephone killed me. Its ringing startled the PC so much she bashed her head against a wall and died? Seriously? lolol

Just finished Portal 2 for the second time.

Excellent sequel but I feel like it should've introduced all of it's new mechanics quicker. Like 90% through the game you're introduced to the big blue thing that levitates you in directions.

Then again Valve implemented that very easy to use map editor for the game, so it's a moot point considering just how many good custom maps exist for the game.

Misao is fun and I agree with you on the deaths. Have you tried Mad Father? It's similar to Misao.

Harvester. I feel kind of ashamed that I had to resort to walkthroughs for a fair bit of it, but damn, that game was confusing.

Let's see... I beat Enemy Front on Thursday, Charlie Murder on Saturday, and Shadow Complex on Sunday. Because that's how I roll. Shadow Complex was of special note since that was a game I first bought waaaay back in '09, played it for a couple of hours and forgot about. Only took me five years to actually finish the damn thing.

Just now I finished LA Noire.

Really phenomenal game and it really impressed me a great deal.

However, it wasn't perfect and I don't think it was as good as Red Dead Redemption or some of Rockstar's other titles.

Most of my problems with the game more or less are shared with other visual novel-esque games like Pheonix Wright. Stuff like how you know what you want the protagonist to say to your suspect but you have to pick the correct response. And normally it's not obvious what the correct response is. Like you might be fully aware the character is lying about something but he won't respond to a piece of evidence because you're scripted to press him for information.

As well, I liked the storyline and the amount of reincorporation of characters and dialogue (And there's a lot of very good moments in the writing. Along with characters who appeared earlier on reappearing later). However the main character, Cole Phelps I liked less and less as the game went on. Mostly because he was a fairly self righteous character and numerous times he does things purely because he's ordered to or "it's the right thing to do" when it's completely unnecessary. Indeed, not counting the DLC cases which I have yet to play. Most of the suspects you apprehend
turn out to be completely innocent and you don't even get to interrogate the actual criminal but rather kill him in a shootout

Likewise he was also married and yet you only see his wife ONCE in the entire game. I wouldn't normally be annoyed about it, if not for the fact that he
cheats on her
Indeed the very last part of the game revolves around the protagonist's shame over this moment but I felt like it wasn't given enough lead up. I wanted to know why he did it beyond just
"I was horny"
and I wanted to see more of a result of it occurring besides just being
being demoted and being publicly shamed on the streets. I wanted to see some emotional reaction. Some kind of justification on his part or an explanation of some kind. But we get nothing

In general the pacing was way off in the last part and it felt like the script was missing pages, or things were cut to meet a deadline. The ending in particular felt extremely anti-climactic and didn't have nearly as good pacing as some of the earlier cases.

Overall would I recommend the game? Sure. Would I recommend it over other Rockstar games or even other visual novels like Pheonix Wright? Probably not.

As a last note, the game did remind me a great deal of the PS2 game the Getaway. Upon further research it turns out one of the lead developers on that game went on to found LA Noire's developer.

Posted this in the wrong thread before.

I beat the campaign of Broforce today. It's still a W.I.P. though, so I expect that it'll be expanded in later updates.

Please buy it. I need bros to play multiplayer with.

Finished Postal 2 yesterday. Fun game. I'm looking forward to the new expansion pack.

I beat Deadly Premonition. I think it would've been better if it didn't have those obligatory and stretched-out zombie sequences. Heck, they're never even explained anywhere in the game, so why are they in there?

Today I finally beaten Dark Souls II. Like always, the final boss killed Head of Vengarl but Benhart delievered the killing blow. The ending for Dark Souls II is more ambigous than Dark Souls. Not to mention, there is only one ending.

The Expendabros. It's a free version of Broforce released as a tie-in with The Expendables 3. It's free, so you have no excuse. Go play it, taste the freedom then buy the real thing.

Chose the Destroy ending in ME3. Shed a few tears.
I'm so sorry, EDI and the geth... Forgive me...
But on the upside: Tali, HE'S COMING BACK FOR YA

Just finished this one as well. Agree with every single one of your points, that last "boss battle" was ridiculous.

Just completed Deus Ex the Conspiracy. Which is the PS2 port of the PC game Deus Ex.

Overall my thoughts on it are pretty positive. It's a startlingly good port of DX1. They kept in pretty much everything from the original PC release and remade a few of the maps. Most notably they even remade obscure parts of the original maps, like the back door into Smuggler's hideout and stuff. Much of the core gameplay is there, and they simplified a few of the mechanics. Inputting things like passwords and codes is now automatic, so you can no longer guess keypad codes. On the other hand you don't have to write down every code you get anymore so that's the bonus. The intro and ending cutscenes are now full motion video and I actually liked them a great deal. The health system was overhauled into a simple health bar rather than each individual limb having it's own health. Lastly the inventory system was simplified to accommodate a gamepad. There's no more inventory tetris.

For what the dev team set out to accomplish (Deus Ex 1 on the PS2) I'd say they succeeded. While things like the remade smaller maps and more loading screens are a burden, the core gameplay and everything that made DX1 great was still retained. Hell I played through the entire thing just because I love Deus Ex so much.

While the PC port is objectively superior, the PS2 port is worth playing if you can get your hands on it and just want more Deus Ex.

Just completed the PC game Iron Storm from back in 2002.

It only had 6 levels, lasted 8 hours, had an amazingly original premise and was bogged down in forced stealth sections and convoluted objectives. What a shitty game.

At least I got it for 2.50$ on Steam.

I'm still playing Criminal Girls: INVITATION. I did complete a few quests in Dwarf Fortress.
