What game did you finish today?

I completed Ape Escape (emulated on PS5) last night, it's still a charming little platformer but holy fuck the controls have not aged well in the ~27 years since its release.

Part of me wants to play the other numbered titles in the series but I can't be bothered with the PS4 version of 2 since it uses the EU version of the game (mostly due to its UK dub) and the game is notoriously difficult to emulate while 3's absence from any sort of digital store bothers me.

i set myself a goal to complete at least one game this year (but obviously more if i can), as in go from start to credits. reason: most of the games ive been playing as of late are not like this and ive been putting off many games in my library due to not actually wanting to beat them, but i have to eventually. gta 6, if it launches this year as rockstar says they will, it'll probably be that. otherwise, im gonna try to finish that indiana jones game that came out a while ago. but damn does the curse of procrastination have quite the effect on me.

I recently beat the first Resistance game on my old ps3. Very fun little shooter with some great weapons and enemy designs but also very difficult and extremely stingy with its checkpoints, which can make it very frustrating. It’s a shame it’s stuck on the PS3 because I had fun with it despite being rough around the edges.

Outcast: A New Beginning. The mostly peaceful brown aliens have been liberated from the evil human colonisers led by a bald maniac.

The world was fun to explore, especially with the jet-powered wingsuit but the jarring modern dialogue with the aliens did nothing for immersion on this alien planet and it started to feel repetitive as fuck as I kept taking out bases and doing stupid parkour trails to open flowers and neutralize "gork eruptions" that were basically fissures that oozed corruption.

I platinum'd it because I'm obsessive but good lord that felt like a chore.

Stray. Short but good game, platinum'd it just now after getting the speedrun trophy.

And fuck zurks. Shaved testicle headcrab looking muthafuckers.

Recently played through and finished Bully on my PS3. This was the first time that I replayed since I first beat it in 2015, on my phone none the less. I had a lot of fun with it. There was never really a dull moment in it.

I have finished Divinity 2:Ego Draconis today.

There are few cool things about the game. Turning into a dragon is a really nice gimmick. I didn't really like the dragon combat but exploration and flying was fun. You can basically switch freely between forms but in dragon form you can only attack big targets/flying and in human form you can only attack enemies on foot. There are 5 ability groups(basically summoner, mage, warrior, ranger and general abilities) which you can mix and match. You aren't locked into class just like in previous game. Maps are pretty big filled with secrets to explore. There's so much side content to do it made my head hurt and I skipped at least 50% of it. The story is not really taking itself too seriously but I enjoyed the goofiness and lines you can throw at enemies.
Honestly if I wasn't mildly invested in the story after Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity I would probably drop it after an hour or two. Combat has its moments but overall it is pretty clunky and can get really annoying with stuns and constant notifications about being hit with poison. Overall I think its only for fans of the series.

The last game I finished/completed (not 100%) was Red Dead 2 and that was all the way back in 2018. I had to ignore a bunch of shit to get that done. I have had the PC port since 2019 and have yet to complete my playthrough on that. The problem there was the PC port of RDR2 was a mess and poorly optimized. My PC with its original didn't run it well. I was using an i7 6700 and a GTX 1070 Ti when it released on PC. Then later on I upgraded my GPU to a 2070 Super and that didn't help. In 2020 I upgraded to a Ryzen 3700x and a Asus x570 motherboard. I played it a little off on but haven't played it much over the past few years.

did you try lowering the settings

Resident Evil 6.

It was my first Resi and damn do I enjoy it now as much as I did then - It sucks that it's developed the reputation it has when compared to what entries came before, during and after it, 6 had effort put in at the very least.

Prodeus. Fun 7/10 doom clone. Now I’ll go back to playing nothing because gaming sucks now.

Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Roleplaying Game. Bleak as fuck and you can tell it's budget, but it's overall very solid. Falls just short of me calling it great. Got the itch to pick it back up after the entire Avowed disaster.

Having replayed Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut to 100%, do yourself a favor and download the .exe patcher from Nexus mods. At the bare fucking minimum. I would also get the Better Textures mod since the PC version is a fucking port of the fucking Wii U version which is why so many of the textures look like complete shit. Also replayed Mankind Divided and got all the non-Breach achievements. Yes, I would rather do OLTL over fucking Breach.

I finished Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass, a recommendation thanks to the lovely folks over at the Quirky Indie RPG thread.

It was a refreshing playthrough. It had been a while since I've played through an RPG where I didn't hate the main characters. It was a little grindy towards the middle, but I like to grind so it didn't matter to much to me. The creator is making a new game which I am looking forward to.

Just wrapped up my full renegade playthrough of Mass Effect LE. Really didn't have a problem with the ending I selected other than

Accidentally picked for Sheppard to merge with the Reapers and everyone gets along.

Writing went off the rails the last hour

Yesterday, I did a one shot through of Advanced Warfare. That game still holds up to this day, in my opinion.

Press [SQUARE] to pay respects.
