What game did you finish today?

Beat Bug Fables on hard mode and it was pretty good, made me realize that people who complained about Paper Mario sticker star were full of shit since you spend most of the game with a badge that instakills enemies that give you little exp but all of them give you very little exp just like Paper Mario so it's not worth fighting any of them and you spend more time walking from point A to point B than actually doing combat.

Finally jumped back into Dragon Quest Builders 2 and finished it. I loved the first game, this one was a really big improvement of certain game mechanics. I thought it was a lot easier though, the final boss wasn't as hard (though it was very badass, the whole endgame area is very badass). I died maybe once in the whole game.

This is next on my to-play list! I'm excited because it will be the first actual Dragon Quest game I've played aside from the Builders games.

DQ Builders I enjoy more than Minecraft for the Singleplayer goal. DQ11 is a great game to get into, still has some DQ standards but the presentation and gameplay really improved for modern standards.

Finished Etrian Odyssey 4 after a few weeks and it was great. This was the first one I did all of the Superbosses and post game dungeon in so it was cool seeing everything the game had to offer. Only negatives I had for it were that it was definitely easier than older titles, the arranged music wasn't as good as the synth music, and labyrinths were too small. They also let you map out pitfalls, but there isn't even a single one in this game.

Either gonna move on to EO5 or Bloodstained.

Finally beat all the bosses in Terraria, I have 5 achievements left to get and my game will be 100% completed :)

Katamari Damacy. I remember playing a demo of it as a kid but damn, it still holds up. Such a great and innocent little game.

God help you if you don't have a twinstick controller though.

Just 100% SpongeBob battle for bikini bottom rehydrated and it was a blast. The original on gamecube was one of my absolute favorite games growing up and as a teenager I felt crazy trying to convince people a licensed kids show game was great but now I'm vindicated

Ys IV: Mask of the Sun. The SNES fan translation. I'm used to the bumping so it didn't bother me. People complain about it way too much when it was only like three games in the series.

Anyway, final boss is way too gimmicky. Every phase is some gimmick. I finally got the hang of it. But it took awhile.

Eldeel reveals that even without Gruda's corruption he still wanted the power of Celceta because he was the last of his race and felt it was the only thing he was born to do.

Then Leeza is all upset that he will die.

Eldeel be like: Just let me slumber here in the ruins for eternity. (:_(

Ok you do you, Eldeel. Seeya. ;)

And he teleports you out of that golden pyramid basement.

What the hell does Leeza see in this flying fruitcake? I guess it's a case of sheltered religious girl syndrome or something.

I actually expected her to cling to his corpse as she was crushed by rubble. Maybe that would have been a better ending. I don’t know. I don’t fall in love with flying weidoes.

YS IV is a weird game that Falcom had the concept for but farmed out to two companies make. Tonkin House made the SNES version and Hudson Soft did the PC Engine CD. The PC Engine got translated with voiced audio and plays better than Tonkin but Tonkin is closer to Falcom's story.

Beat GTA IV again, this time going for "courteous citizen" Niko within reasonable bounds. Minimal carjacking, random murder sprees, occasionally walking to places and taking taxis and the subway. Enjoying the scenery and wacky pedestrian dialogue. I like how in IV and V you have the ability to be low-key. Took me around 45 hours so I missed the Liberty City Minute achievement by a while, but I think I can pound that out in less than ten if I skip everything.

I want to try that one too. I can't moon runes so I wouldn't know what the PS2 version is saying.

Star Wars Racer remake for Switch. It baffles me how much more exciting the races are with music for the whole race and not just the final lap as it used to be on N64.
Ah, so it IS a port of the Dreamcast version, not the N64 then. Good to know! I loved it on Dreamcast and in the arcade, but the N64 version was total shit, as was the norm for that shit machine.

I just finished Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and I’m almost at 100% completion, I’m just missing three precursor orbs. It was great.

Just finished Asscreed Syndicate. Been awhile since I've played (Black Flag was my last game) and it's a meh 6.5/10. GTA but set in Victorian England is an interesting premise, but the missions were repetitive in the usual fashion and the ending was kinda shit. Wish they didn't relegate Jacob into the "dumb younger brother" role because I found him a lot more likable than Evie and her shitty romance with the most useless poo-in-loo assassin I have ever seen. Typical Ubisoft.

I beat Contra 3 on hard mode legitimately without using save states or other cheating. Yes, I am awesome.

Jade Cocoon for the PS1.

You can kinda tell the game was made on a budget, what with exploring the village being relegated to a menu, the recycled dungeons, the relatively simple battle mechanics, and the game’s general short length.

However, I like to believe that a lot of great art can come with being forced to work within limitations, and this game is a pretty good example of that.

Story wise, it was pretty engaging throughout. The characters were solid and likable. (Except Lui, fuck him) back story and lore is pretty rich, and the themes of maintaining a balance between man, nature, light and dark, while not super original, were pretty convincing here.

Admittedly some parts were kinda confusing. There were bits of massive exposition, again, indicative of the game’s limited resources, but after understanding what everything means and how it relates, the whole thing is actually pretty fascinating.
And of course, the monster fusing is great. Was fun seeing what abominations and affronts to nature I can create.

It’s not a game for everyone, butI can see why it has a cult following and I enjoyed it overall. Definitely check it out. Preferably through an emulator as physical copies are expensive last I checked.

I "beat" CK2, this time I burnt England to the fucking ground as a taoist.
