What game do you wish Phil would play? - AKA best future TIHYDP material?

I want to see DSP play Disco Elysium just to see how big of a psychotic mess he'd make the detective.
See this would be perfect. I have learned to stop getting excited for any game that he can get just told a build. But, the way he would play would light a fire under stream chat and he would get really salty about that. And thats Phil at his best.

Finally got around to seeing what kind of game Divinity Original Sin 2 is, because it has been talked about so much and Phil refuses to touch it even though he has the chat to hold his hand. Search it on YouTube and it's just guide after guide after guide, not on how to beat the entire campaign, but just on the art of PLAYING the fucking thing. It's seriously some D&D shit, if I picked it up I would have to abandon my other hobbies.

Phil is never doing it. Waaaaaay too nerdy for a poser like him.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you here. I played that damn game for hundreds of hours before I beat it. Most of that was just re rolling characters and starting over and over to see all the different ways things in the game play out, but still. DOS2 would rock Phil’s world on the “story” difficulty setting, and that’s not being hyperbolic.

i don't know he could definitely do it on story, he's not going to have a good time and his playthrough will easily be longer than anyone playing on a higher difficulty but like water through the grand canyon i think phil could carve his way through DOS2 though i don't think he would enjoy it very much

Blood's first level would produce lethal levels of salt, let alone the rest of the game.
The original Deus Ex would probably kick his ass too since you have to play with some degree of stealthiness or else you'll get your ass kicked, especially before you get the Dragon's Tooth sword.
Killer7 would be a "fun" playthrough to watch with just how confusing every aspect of it is.

What I'm wondering is why the "no games he has played in the last five years" rule, because Phil doesn't bother to remember shit from five days ago, let alone five years. Anything from 2014 and back may as well be a blind run when it comes to Phil, which means we'll be laughing at him going "Huh? What do I do?" the whole fucking time. He's basically ASKING to relive the heyday of TIHYDP.

I kind of want to see him play Xenogears, just to see how much of it he can take before he rage quits. "KHAM AHN, dood! I just wanna punch things with my giant robot! Stop making me read!"

On the other hand, I also kind of like Xenogears, and it probably deserves better than Phil snorting and burping over it. Also let's be real, I doubt he would make it past Lahan.

Unironically Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne.
Since he'll probably play it when the remaster comes on the Switch it'll be inevitable he'll face off against Matador. Even after him there will a bunch of other bosses he'll have trouble with.
I think he'll know about the Matador memes in advance. It's the next boss he'll struggle with; after that, he'll worship a walkthrough. Hey, fusing demons with the right moves is almost like pulling gacha in WWE Champions!

How's he gonna shit-talk the game's religious themes? I bet he won't pay attention and he'll only know from chat and the like that the game has religious themes, not how it uses them.

Anyhow, I want him to play Tales of Vesperia. I want him to bitch about Troy Baker wearing a scarf indoors again, especially if it's during one of the new Definitive Edition scenes where Yuri is instead voiced by Grant George.

i feel like ivr never seen phil play a card game. would love to see him play some mtg arena or hearthstone and watch him bitch and moan as he gets outplayed with every draw

He played Hearthstone already and it went extremely poorly:

For a few of the highlights, chat outright built his deck for him and he berated them for not helping fast enough because of "online lag".

Hearthstone is also interesting in hindsight because he (in his telling) spent a few hundred dollars in iTunes gift cards he had lying around; the exact number is estimated to be much higher based on some of the cards he had. Now that we know about WWE Champions I'd be very curious to know if he was as addicted to Hearthstone then as he is to Champions now.

Magic the Gathering is never happening but I'd love to see him try playing Legacy or Vintage. I've played on and off for a long time so I get the mechanics but the strategy is just too complex even for casual matches - there are literal hundred page primers for some of the top tier decks.
