What game do you wish Phil would play? - AKA best future TIHYDP material?

I wouldn't mind watching Phil play Crazy Taxi. It would be kinda funny to watch him struggle to avoid hitting traffic.

He already has plenty of footage of him slamming into shit that he claims spawned out of thin air, though I suppose in that game it would be more frequent. I remember it being quite hectic.

What game would you really like DSP to play?
What game would be excellent TIHYDP material?

Personally, i can't wait for him to play Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. That game has weird mechanics that favor hardcores instead of casuals, including constant damage in the dark world and ammo for beam weapons. You have to manage both health and ammo while in the dark world. Also some of the bosses are quite tough, like the Boost Guardian.

Another game series i would like him to play? The old Hitman games, the stealth in those games is really hard to pull off for casuals, and also the challenge curve is quite steep.

So, what do you want him to play?
I'd love to see him play Super Monkey Ball. Especially SMB2's Story Mode. I did remember him mentioning Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD but he never got to playing it.

Enemy Zero because the game is extremely difficult, even on the the easy settings. It's a horror game where you have limited saves, the enemies are invisible, and you have to be at point-blank range to kill them after fully charging your gun (which has limited ammo) . Depending on the difficulty, your "voice recorder" (the save function) has a set amount of charges and each save takes 3 charges while loading takes up 1 charge. Once it runs out, the game is over and you have to restart the whole game from the beginning. The only way to know where enemies are is through a beeping device you have, so the faster it goes, the closer the enemy is. You get hit once and it's game over. There's also no in-game map and the last part of the game is grueling as you have to traverse through a series of maze-like areas filled with enemies, limited ammo and without being able to save for a majority of it.

However, I know that unless this game ever gets ported to modern systems, then Phil will never ever play it for the following reasons:
1) Phil doesn't have a Sega Saturn and the game is over $100+
2) Though the original PC version of the game works fine on modern computers (it's not expensive), Phil is a boomer and refuses to play computer games
3) Good luck expecting a boomer to figure out how to emulate the game on his computer

Has anyone tried Driver for the PSX?

It has one of the worst "tutorial" missions in video game history. I can already see Phil quitting within an hour before being "bored" of the game.

The Longing. You literally have to wait for over a year for the game to finish itself. Very slow, doesn't explain a lot of its mechanics right off the bat and has the occasional depressing comment from the protagonist.

Be interesting to see what he does when he's left alone to wander around the game's labyrinthine cave system with only his own thoughts to keep him company.

The worst thing about the Driver tutorial was the 180 reverse. And the last mission. Phil would quit at another point with his usual "Dood! the car spawned in front of me . Bullshit!"

Pen and Paper, like Dungeons and Dragons. Won't ever happen because it demands human conversations and basic form of creativity and a sense for roleplaying. No, he would breath in "Uuuh" and demand a handholded walkthrough for every situation (for the rules that's fine. You know what I mean). Then loudly announced bored-mode kicks in and he stops giving fucks, ruining every situation just to get it over with.
I would super watch it for his utter lack of social skills and imagination.

If I'd know anything about PnP I could give funny examples. Also my meal is ready.

I dont think the garage tutorial was hard... But the last mission with the president or sthing like that... i couldnt beat without cheating.

Tbh I had trouble with the 180 reverse (and keeping the car in one piece) and the latest mission...it took me 10 tries at least but I did finish it (with a bit of luck)

Silent Hill 4 (again?) so he can face his innumerable real life fears in videogame form such as: Playing a shut-in who's forced to leave his apartment. Hospital appointments with nurses who belch more than he does. Spying on his wife neighbor through a hole in the wall as a means of trying to make a single lucid connection to reality beyond the veil of being an aloof mature adult. Dealing with a man named Jasper who's transfixed by the stories of a local cult and its leader. And the ultimate fear.. meeting his genuine fans irl.
