Fucking legend of Zelda of course but it’s split between A link to the past or Ocarina of time.

Bro these choices are whack

Conway's Game of Life

- Real OG (Released 1970, 55yo)

- Extremely simple mechanics, infinite depth

- Cult classic with insane legacy

- Turing complete (you can literally run other games on it if you program it)

- Absolute technical masterpiece that would redefine the genre

Whats the connotation of Citizen Kane here?

Because there is the GOAT, every movie should be measured against Kane connotation: Which would be Half-Life.

The other connotation would be the Kane is a boring watch that is technically good but forgets that movies are entertainment and isn't entertaining: Which that would be Last of Us (2).

Bioshock Infinite wasn't even a good game, and definitely didn't change the dynamics of how games are made.
That probably makes the first Bioshock a better candidate for that reason alone, probably not the winner but a contender.

Bubsy 3D for true Citizen Kane title, he died so that gaming could live.

Life is Strange.

It's boring. Too long. And the ending makes everything you just sat through pointless.

Yes, it would be a game that has changed the art of game-making forever. Zelda 1, Super Metroid, Deus Ex, Castlevania nor Shenmue really do that, but DOOM, Mario 64 and Half-Life are all genre-defining, if not game-changing. DOOM (maybe the original Wolfenstein?) birthed the FPS as we know it today, Mario 64 ushered in the 3D platformer and influenced loads of games outside of that, and Half-Life + Half-Life 2 first developed shooters into something more in addition to using environmental and in-game storytelling to tell a story, with its sequel influencing storytelling a second time (physics puzzles be damned).
My pick would be the original Half-Life, because it's been so transformative to video games as a whole, just like Citizen Kane has transformed the language of moviemaking. No longer would every shooter be just a screen of exposition, shoot, then another screen of exposition once you win (as was the case with DOOM, Quake, even Duke Nukem).
Super Metroid and Castlevania Symphony of the Night are still influencing more games to this day than any other games, 99% of the indie scene are metroidvanias directly inspired by Super Metroid and SofN. The only other game that was close to Zelda 1 at the time of release was Adventure on the Atari 2600, and that game was extremely primitive (still lots of fun though) you underestimate how much Zelda 1 was a big deal when it came out and how much it influenced video games, Shenmue is arguably the first game that inspired a large 3d detailed open world adventure with lots of things to do in it and a focus on cinematic storytelling. This is what every AAA game is now, big bloated open worlds and Shenmue was one of the earliest examples of this if not the earliest. GTA3 came out two years after Shenmue for reference.

My vote goes to either Super Metroid or Doom as those are easily the two most influential games ever made in history.

It probably actually is Shadow of the Colossus if you're looking for broad similarities, but if you just mean the technically perfect entry in a medium then it's Super Mario Bros. 3.

If you think that's the case about Deus Ex you should kill yourself now
Deus Ex is an overrated Matrix knockoff presenting itself as a boomer shooter and has overly complicated controls and mechanics. It's also way too long and the story is not worth slogging through. It doesn't deserve the praise it gets, which only comes from schizos who think it predicted the future. It is not the greatest game ever made, nor is it even the greatest FPS ever made. It is, in fact, the most overrated game ever made

It is probably something like The Longest Journey by Funcom.

I posted the very ambiguous intro cut scene on purpose. If you are even mildly interested in the game, don't look up any other trailers or read into it. Just grab it over on GoG or wherever and start playing. Even if you don't think it qualifies for the question asked by this thread, The Longest Journey is a very good game and worth your time.

Do not bother with any of the sequels.
