What game or game franchise has the worst fanbase?

Smash always seemed autistic to me. I don't play it. But from time to time I'd get a laugh off the GameFAQs boards.

The games I like typically don't have big fandoms full of autists. If I like a game with an autistic fandom I just stay away from that fandom.

It has unlimited continues. That immediately makes it easier than 90% of the games I played as a child.

I think the Zelda fandom pisses me off the most. The amount of autism towards the lore and backstories of those games is ridiculous. Trying to read any discussion about a Zelda game inevitably ends up being about timelines and lore shit and bunch of other gay shit I don't give the slightest fuck about. Just the sheer autism displayed by zeldafags when they go off about their lore shit is too much to handle.

Timeline was biggest mistake at Nintendo.

They caved to the fandom and should not have done that. Only the games that are obviously connected like OoT and MM, ALttP and LA ect... should have had additional lore created.

I'm not opposed to the Twilight Princess/Wind Waker split. It's an interesting concept. What happens if Link dies before he saves Hyrule. But in the TP world it makes OoT Adult Link kind of pathetic. It's unfair to blame child Link for dying so I won't bother with that. And looking back I think I actually liked WW a bit better. But TP Hero of Time just fucked around the land alone until he died then became the Hero's Shade? It just seems a sad fate unbefitting of the Hero of Time. Inceldom as a ghost. How depressing. Would have been more interesting if he ascended to some kind of godhood in death.

Lorefags bore me. Just play the games and stop scrutinizing every little thing. There are so many Zelda games that there will be references here and there that don't necessarily mean it's a piece of lore.

See, even just mentioning Zelda will bring out a paragraph or two of sperging about some dumb shit or another.

Tbf what else is there to talk about with zelda until recently? The games had fuck all in terms of gameplay to discuss so faggots latched onto lore. Kinda like Fromsoft fans. Mediocre gameplay propped up by D E E P L O R E

Even worse, many pro Smash players don't shower. So they can literally be toxic.

I know it's not a "franchise," but Sony fanboys are obnoxious. Since PS3, they go full denial/defensive mode when their exclusives don't sell as expected or go multiplatform.

I used to enjoy Stardew Valley but I have grown to resent it over the years because of its borderline cult like fanbase. They treat the game and its creator like Jesus and if you’re a part of the farming sim/cozy game community they’re difficult to avoid because they won’t shut the fuck up about how they think it’s the best game in the genre. Lots of them look down on other farming sims or refuse to play them if they don’t play exactly like Stardew. Also the fanbase is full of sjws who make diversity mods and get mad at the creator over every little offensive thing they can find in the game but they’re a lot easier to avoid than the rabid fanboys.

I had a similar experience while looking up some simple mods for minor gameplay or aesthetic changes. I ended up falling down a rabbit hole into the fiery pits of insanity. I already knew mods and communities beyond the surface level tend to get weird but holy shit. Stardew is still a game I like a lot and have played many times, hell I went back to do a co-op run even.

Absolute batshit community.

At the risk of sounding contrarian, I think the Metroid fanbase is pretty bad as well, at least in regards to how they want Samus Aran to be portrayed.

They hate any portrayal of Samus that isn’t an unattractive muscle brick, want her to show zero weaknesses, and also don’t want any kind of major form of storytelling that may show her having emotion.

Like, I get it, Other M did a really poor job of characterizing her. But going to the extreme opposite end is the wrong way to do this.

I was just about to come in here and say "any fanbase with a sizeable contingent of fujos and troons, all coomers."

That is the objectively correct answer. The reason for this is that despite their comparatively small absolute numbers, they are very loud and very dedicated. Hence, they take over.

Now what bothers me is, you would expect the straight coomers to take over because you would assume they would have the numbers. They just don't in the same way. It's weird. I don't quite understand it. I think straight coomers "move on" more quickly.
They have lives outside of consuming shit is the correct answer.

I can't think of a Metroid game where Samus wasn't depicted as physically attractive. This goes for Other M as well. And frankly, Other M showed the problem with Samus acting like a vulnerable little girl: it made her less hot. Metroid's strength is in the environment telling most of the stpey with brief interludes of text detailing the rest. Honestly, it's probably one of Nintendo's best franchises (if not one of gaming's best) due to the fact that it isn't so mainstream and has yearly releases that water the gameplay and the story down, but not so obscure it is unknown. My personal gripe is with the Zelda games, especially the ones post Wind Waker. They got too lore heavy for their own good and got bogged down by the constant release schedule for the games. Also, every pickme girl and troon loves Zelda nowadays so that has definitely made me sour on the series.

War Thunder and World of Tanks. Two different games but they have the same problem which is that a huge number of people who play them act like they’re suddenly the world’s foremost military experts. I don’t even know why either. We’ve had plenty of much more “realistic” military simulator games come out over the years, but for some reason these two games are like spawning pools for people with no real military experience or education that seem determined to militarize the Dunning-Kruger effect. The few of them that do actually have military experience seem absolutely determined to post classified documents and go to prison.

STALCRAFT. While it's fun in early game, you'll encouraged to be toxic among its community the longer you stay in the game.

League of Legends, but MOBA Player in general confuse the fuck outta me man. Any time I've talked to someone that's into one of these games they always talk about or 'joke' how much they hate the game and each other. Most of them seem like they'd be happier playing a one on one competitive games or doing literally anything else with people. I get it, you gotta trip on your shoelaces a few times before you figure things out, you're not always going to like everyone and not every session is going to be an awesome one. But I swear they only seem happy one out of every ten games

Nah. The Zero Suit attracted the wrong kind of crowd.

It attracted the coomers, which means it attracted the trannies that wanted to claim Samus based on a single developer once making what seems to be a joke that she's a newhalf.

It is a completely understandable reaction.

Ultrakill is filled with obnoxious, painfully unfunny trannies, faggots and the like that aggressively suck Hakita's cock and viciously attack anyone who does as much as imply Ultrakill isn't God's gift to mankind. Don't ever mention to anyone that you play this game otherwise you'll be backseated to death by discord degenerates that play 20 hours of Cybergrind daily. Amongus, TF2niggers and Jojofaggots seem sane by comparison when every single Ultratranny cannot shut the fuck up about the stupid robot game for more than 5 seconds.
That faggot Maxxor and his army of mentally-damaged children only made it worse.

I swear there's some kind of correlation with how the more inoffensive a game is, the more batshit insane the community is. Postal 2 is a game where you can run around, behead innocent people, light them on fire, piss on them to put it out, and then piss on all the passerbys to make them vomit and scream. Its fans are... actually kinda fun.

Then I look at fans of cozy games, and it's like:

Zelda fans putting every new game on a pedestal annoys me, plus the whole turnabout on how Majora's Mask was this underappreciated classic that's actually better than Ocarina of Time.

All fandoms are annoying, I'd probably say back in 2016 tied between Undertale and FNAF...the former has also reared its head again with Deltarune but some of the fandoms that come to mind:

Pokémon - Refusal to admit that the series hit its peak 20-25 years ago while willfully eating the slop that Game Freak shits out, yet hating it anyway
Cities Skylines - Like SimCity fans but without any nuance or intelligence, basically adjacent/crosses over with NJB crowd
Nintendo - In general. Will defend anything they put out, despite a bunch of plagued franchises, but especially...
Animal Crossing - A lot of histrionic women and trannies flock to this one.

Except Blood Omen 2, but the rest. Nothing but respect.

F.
Blood Omen 2 is one of those rare times where a remake would probably vindicate it, especially if they did a FF7R-like redo combining it with Blood Omen into one game to bring everything into sync (like Umah, Sebastian and co’s betrayal being more impactful as they’re all Literally Who’s, events from Defiance being implied).

(Also remove the pedophilic Elzevir quest in BO1 given the writer, Ken McCulloch, was later revealed to be a major chomo.)

I mean, you’d be polishing a turd otherwise but there’s some stuff worth salvaging in Blood Omen 2.

But there was nothing worth rescuing in Dead Sun and that got a mercy abortion. Sad thing is Legacy of Kain fans were so desperate for new content some of them would’ve gladly eat literal shit (Dead Sun) than have some standards for a new game, but I digress.
