Even though, I fucking hate how Treyarch/Dave Vandercock/Infinity Ward ruin the new call of duty. I will always miss the old ones, but I think Black Ops 2 is one of the few games where no matter how old I get, I'll never forget this game. Let's all nostalgia cry together.

Doom.

Young people might complain about the graphics, or level design, or how Sandy Peterson has "problematic" takes on social media. And older people might complain about how Scott Hall got shafted, and John Romero's various fuck ups, and id's various fuck ups. People can cope by saying it's just a "everything runs Doom" meme game, or that the game is propped up in current year by mods. There's no denying they made one of the all time greats.

Team Fortress 2
SSX 3
Cataclysm: Bright Nights (because Dark Days Ahead went too far with the realism and is now incredibly autisic)
Undertale (the fandom is shit, but the ending genuinely made me smile and the music is amazing)
Disco Elysium

And finally

Ocarina of Time
The story is bland, the gameplay is lackluster, and being on the N64 fucked it as far as controls are concerned. You're a faggot for not picking Majora's Mask.

The Mana series is a weird one, they put out three bangers in a row and then it was just endless diarrhea from then on. The series devolved into fuckin' f2p cellphone games, and the most recent entry was Echoes of Mana, which shut down after 13 months.

It's a very cursed series, but the original games will always be good.

Metal Gear Solid 2, the series' peak. I appreciate the weirdness and attention to detail, you don't get games like this anymore.

I guess it's not technically part of the series, but Secret of Evermore is also pretty good.

Secret of Mana
I have a lot of fond memories regarding this game, not just how good it is, but IRL things. I can't rate it a better game than VP2, but sentimental things require it to be at the top.

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria

Xenogears

Chrono Trigger

Super Mario RPG

Metal Gear Solid 1~3

Zone of the Enders 2

There's no denying they made one of the all time greats.

Not only is the game timeless and continues to enjoy a heavy modding scene, but it was revolutionary for the breakthroughs it made in extremely optimized rendered.

Gotta be the Mega Man franchise as a whole for me. The series has always had banger soundtracks and mostly good game design. One of the first games I played to completion as a kid was Mega Man X, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

Also an honorable mention to the Advanced Wars series. Despite AW1 and 2 coming out on the GBA, they're games that are still played at a competitive level and can have a level of depth that could be compared to a chess match. The unit sprites, combat animations, and soundtrack stand the test of time as well. Honestly, I almost prefer the visuals of the classic games over the Reboot.

I cant tell you how good or bad it actually is. But Freedom Force is always top tier stuff to me. Superhero shit has been done to death in the past decade and I'm fucking tired of it. There is something I can't help but respect about a bunch of people wanting to pay tribute to a certain era of capes and I think that love really shows through, especially considering they self-published the second game.

I know part of it comes down to the fact that superheroes was a slightly more novel setting 20 years ago compared to now. But man i love how hard they leaned into the goofy tights and cornball shit. The game underneath was very fun. Really solid tactical squad game with a lots of customization & mod friendly. Plenty of base assets to play around with, custom characters had so many options and the amount of shit you could change with how their powers worked reminded me a lot of how the old Elder Scrolls games handled spell creation.

This one's gonna be a doozy.

Galactic Civilizations 2 and 3 - It's like Stellaris but simpler, has a more flexible ship customization system, and is filled to the brim with jokes/parodies of classic and modern sci-fi while still taking its story seriously.
Star Wars: Empire at War - First RTS I've ever played. It's simple, but fun, and mods/continued bug fix updates keep it alive to this day.
Star Wars: Jedi Outcast - One of the few star wars games out there that really hits my inner nerd and makes me feel like I'm on a classic star wars adventure. Developed on the ID Tech 3 engine, its shooter and movement gameplay feels right at home with 'boomer shooters' such as doom, quake, and half-life, but where the game really shines is its force powers and lightsaber combat. Fallen Order/Survivor don't hold a candle to this game in my eyes.
The Half-Life/Portal Games - Source Engine games were my DOOM, pretty much. No matter how old these games get I always find myself coming back to them to at least mess around with the numerous cheat codes (There's so many console commands for source engine they needed a whole wiki for them.) or try out a new sourcemod.
The Zeno Clash series - One of the most unique and surreal fighting games I've ever played, with a surprisingly deep story, it's always fun to come back to.
Sacrifice - An RTS I love for the same reason I love Zeno Clash: A unique surreal artstyle, which takes the classic DnD/Tolkien fantasy setting and warps it into a dark, twisted land filled with abominable creatures and the ambitious wizards and spiteful gods who rule over them. The characters are all charming and fun, and there's tons of different story paths.
The Elder Scrolls games - Goes without saying.
The Halo Trilogy + Reach - Also goes without saying.
Mass Effect - Also goes without saying.
Scrapland - An obscure open-world thirdperson shooter, it's about a post-apocalyptic Earth that's been abandoned by humans, and resettled by the countless robots they left behind. It's basically Grand Theft Auto but with robots and fighter ships, and has great art direction. Made by a small spanish studio, and amazingly its english localization is pretty good despite their localization 'team' consisting of just one guy.
Grand Theft Auto 4 - It might not be as feature heavy as the other GTA games, but this one's story, music and atmosphere hits just right imo.
Bully - I come back to this game a lot because it's just so damn fun.
Darkstar One -An obscure space combat game, and one of its developer's last games before they went bankrupt. Its controls are simple and there's lots of upgrade options for the player ship, so I often come back to it when I feel like trying a new build.
Deus Ex - This game was hard for me to get the hang of at first, but my god did it grow on me fast. Every time I play it, my mind is still blown at just how detailed and open each map is, especially for the time period it was released.
SiN - A cyberpunk FPS from 1998. I still occasionally come back to it for its fun gameplay and badass rock music.
Postal 2 - What's there not to love about drowning your next-door neighbor in piss and napalm?
Titanfall 2 - One of the last good shooters of the 2010s, came out right before the gaming industry's decline went into full swing.
