What Have You Cooked Recently?

Lots of snow in my area today, seemed like a good time to try making pumpkin soup. Never made this before so just played by ear, seasoned with some nutmeg, a dash of maple syrup, salt, pepper, cream.

My garnish (and photography) is dogshit but the soup itself tasted really good

12 hour oven lamb legs.
I buy 1/2 leg (1.5kg)(3kg).

I season it with spices and salt and then let it marinate for a day.
Then before going to bed it put it in the oven at 100C for 12 hours.(I brown it first tho.)
I then pull it apart and make a sauce with the juices.
It reheats perfectly and doesn't need that much work for the amount of meat you get.

Tbh it doesn't last that long because people in my home will always find excuses to eat it.

Had insomnia tonight and decided to bake something. So I made a cake. Started with a strawberry cake mix divided into 2 round pans. Took some frozen strawberries and pureed them, then put them in a pan and added a touch of sugar and starch to make a jelly, which went between the 2 cakes. Finished it off with some lightly sweetened whipped cream. I've set it in the fridge to achieve a uniform cold, then I'm having a slice for breakfast when I wake up from my inevitable insomnia crash.

My last mooncakes with potatoes didn't use a recipe, so I found a mooncake dough recipe and kept my own experimental fillings.

The spring flower mooncakes with red filling is cherry puree, the dough was too thick and cracked everywhere when baked.
I didn't care for this one:

The second one used a softer dough with pumpkin spice filling, they came out much better but still cracked near the end of baking.
The pumpkin mooncakes were good, and I ate them with cool whip. I would make these again:

I fryed up some chicken wings and I FINALLY GOT ‘EM RIGHT!

It turns out it was actually a three-part problem. The first two were cooking-related (I was dressing ’em up in a seasoned flour mixture that was limiting the oil—skin contact during cooking and I was cooking ‘em improperly to some extent). The third part was was an ingredient issue I figured out while I was up in Canada but didn’t actually fix it until now (I was using butter when I should’ve been using margarine).

I am about to make an omlit

edit: the only thing I could find in my pantry to put in an omlit was UFOs so I just decided to make scrambie eggs 'n UFOs instead. Just like mom used to maek

I'm going to cook some BBQ chicken thighs under the broiler. I bought a broiler pan a while back for steaks and the last time I used it, the steak actually got caught on the broiler itself because it was too thick and there wasn't enough distance. So I hope I don't get a repeat of that. Will be pairing it with a frozen Brussel Sprout, Bacon and Cheese bake too.

Edit: It was successful and it was very good, though my smoke alarm went off twice. Is what it is though.

On my 4th or 5th bread run. Added some herbs this time (using just a basic white bread recipe). It smells delicious but tastes kinda bland, maybe I’ll add some chopped garlic next time. I also saw someone say their grandmother would add a packet of onion soup mix to the dough, might be worth trying.

Doxng my lunch again. Oven roasted some pork belly and it came out good as hell. Sorry about the messy plating. I was hungry and rushed it.
THAT LOOKS SO GOOD OMG. one recommendation about the mac n' cheese. there's this deluxe version of kraft and i swear to you once you try it you can never go back to the original. here's a pic of my fav :-)

I've tried it. Don't like it. Prefer the cheap stuff.
