What Have You Cooked Recently?

Sick dude, did you use a stencil to get them perfect like that?
yes, I pressed a cardboard stencil into the dough and cut them out

I fucked up a smoked chicken today. My probes lied to me and I took it off way too early, knowing damn well something was wrong. Poking it with a different probe and putting it back on resulted in all my injection running out. Tasteless, dry mess of a bird.
Never trust technology over human instinct when cooking.

Did you hand draw that cardboard cutout? If not and its a file could you upload it here? I admit, I'm interested in Kiwi gingerbread cookies
i scanned the stencil and kept it full size so it can be printed, it was originally drawn on a cardboard box
if standard printer paper doesn't work, you can try thicker paper like card stock

just a heads up, cookies with too much leavening will bake out of shape

Made some generic cold day soup because I feel like im about to come down with an illness, the soup is potato, carrot, celery root , onion and leek with seasoning, the meatballs is ground pork, onions, rice and egg with seasoning (use anything you have or like, I used garlic powder salt and black pepper)

Very budget friendly too! This came out to about 20zl (4$) for the whole pot, there is about 4-5 bowls worth in there. (P.S add some dill on top, just because it looks good. Recipe link)

I've never heard of mixing rice into meatballs. Do you mix cooked or raw rice? And do you bake the meatballs or boil them?
I boiled them in the soup, you can bake them if you dont like boiled meatballs but since its in broth you dont have the issue of eating bland meatballs (definitely do bake them first if you are doing something like spaghetti sauce and not soup), as for the rice, zero reason to do it. Its just a habit of mine, I used raw & unwashed rice, doesnt really matter in something like a soup or meatballs. Throwing a bit of rice into the soup seems to help thicken it, since it boils the starch off, so you definitely dont want to wash it or cook it prior if you want to use it instead of something like a slurry to thicken your soup.

Marinated porkchops with fluffy rice, the meat practically cooks instantly so the only wait time is the rice & prep (15+60m, or however long you can wait without eating bc marinade)

P.S this was like my second ever attempt trying to make rice and either I somehow magically did it or rice is really fucking simple to make, I never make rice because im afraid that I would make it into porridge lmao

cheap aldi adventures

frozen "crab rangoon"
different from previous cheap aldi frozen crab rangoon, still actually crab instead of crabstick which makes it a little different from what you get at most chinese joints
this time not even that usual square corner pinch look nor usual asian style pastry, just baked crab rangoon empanadas
tbf baked crab rangoon empanadas isn't a bad thing

cheap aldi pizza cheapest grade basic frozen shit
cheap/10
okay with random leftover shit to throw on but yeah pretty bad, even handicapping for aldi

frozen spiniach and cheese and stuff appetizer puff pastery style thing
very nice
def on the good side of aldi has three settings "ass, okay, or hella good"

two pre-assembled pot roast kits on half-price "buy it today or we throw it out" clearance
quite nice but unremarkable as far as a pot roast goes, nothing unique but half-off makes it a good deal on cheap dead cow

My in-laws did something sweet for us so I baked them a round loaf of jalapeno and cheese bread. Unfortunately and unbeknownst to me, this also happened to be the first day of their new keto diet lmao so I made kimchi grilled cheeses tonight with a side of steamed yu choy with oyster sauce and garlic.

Ribs in the smoker tomorrow because they were like $4 per huge package this week, braised cabbage with slab bacon the next day, and pinto beans with smoked sausage and the other half of the slab bacon, with dirty rice on the side the next day. I portioned out the leftovers of Sunday's pasta dish with cream/tomato/lemon/parmesan/roma tomato for lunches for the first few days of this week, and I'll make a soup with vegetables, chicken thighs, and red curry for the other half of the week. We had two weddings to attend this month and had to purchase gifts for both alongside the usual costs of being in the party, so I've been doing cheaper meals than usual- everything mentioned above came out to about $60 for 2 adults and several children.
