What Have You Cooked Recently?

Tomorrow, I'm making some chicken wings to go with frozen pizza. They're nonsectioned, so I get to play with my meat cleaver. Why didn't I buy frozen chicken wings to go with frozen pizza? Because you can't have dogfood grade wings with a Dr. Oetker's Pizza. Probably just gonna dredge them and season them, and bake em in the oven like usual and then cover them in wing sauce.

I've also been curing lox in the fridge for the past two days. It should be good to go by tomorrow morning so I can have some on a bagel with cream cheese before I go to work.
You don't need a cleaver to sperate wing segments. Sorry. However, its good use for a good paring knife once you've cracked the joint at the elbow. Sounds delicious, but please don't hack your wings to bits. The bones are fragile, and using a cleaver on chicken wings is like using an axe on an egg. Youll get splinters of bones everywhere. There's no need for that kind of knife to butcher any part of a chicken. Except to sever the head.

I tried making an omelette but they always break on me so I end up with torn up egg and filling layers. I honestly think I just need a better pan.
Are you making a folded omlette where all is incorporated, or an egg crepe wrapped around meat and veg?

We had no power, water, or gas on Mardi Gras, so I made a myself a late King Cake today. Went with a orange almond brioche type bread with cinnamon pecan and cream cheese filling. Tastes like Cinnabon and I'm about to gain 20lbs this week lol.

Eh, I don't really use it to chop the chicken, I just apply a little pressure on the joints until they split. It's pretty damn sharp.

i tried cooking some macaroni for mac and cheese...well I kinda did but unfortunately i forgot the macaroni was on the stove and that a box of ronzoni rigatoni and cheap dollar store elbows don't share the same cook time...in other words i overcooked it and was left with a thing of rigatoni in macaroni mush.


i actually looked up a few tips on how to salvage overcooked pasta and one tip was to drain and add cooking oil or butter, then sautte on low heat. Did that with a lotta buttha and let it simmer in the pot for a bit in the cheese sauce. It's better than before...eatable at least but not much better.

couldn't just throw it away though, it's the last of my food for maybe a week or so had to salvage it anyway i could.
 
"No-dip" chicken tenders, twice battered in corn starch, brown sugar, salt, garlic powder, black and cayenne pepper, and onion powder. No need for barbeque or hot sauce in this spicy-sweet meat. Turned out really good, though I'll need to amend the percentages and get a touch more flavor out of it.
 
i say this a lot but i made sauerkraut and kielbasa with potatoes again. Honestly not only is it a damn good dish weather hot or chilled but it's very filling, simple and if you know where to get the ingredients cheap to make. based on getting all my ingredients from a family dollar:
1 Hillshire farms kielbasa sausage approx. 4.00
1 can of chestnut hill sauerkraut and 1 can of whole white potatoes 2.10
1 bottle of chestnut hill mustard 1.00

a hot meal prepared in a skillet for less than 10 dollars and is very filling.
 
Lasagna. It's been years since I've made it and forgot how much work it is. I do it a little different than most. Instead of the regular mozzarella on top, I use shaved parmesean. That's the way my mom always made it and I like that the saltiness kind of offsets the sweetness of the ricotta.
 
Broiled lamb sirloin with rice, veggies, and garlic toast. I wanted beef steak but the prices were all marked up after the winter storm last week. I was being a cheap Jew so I got the lamb instead. I'd never tried it before, but it was fucking delicious and waaaay more tender than steak. Probably the cutest animal I've ever eaten and I definitely plan to make it again.
