What have you recently eaten?

Just ordered chicken katsu, short ribs and garlic shrimp. Comes with rice and god awful macaroni salad.
Kind of expensive but I feel way too hungover to attempt to leave my house. Plus I'll have leftovers for later.

My late grandpa used to always send us a meat and cheese gift box for Christmas and we made a tradition of having it on this date. He's been gone for a few years now but we've continuing the tradition in his honor.

I had hamburger helper for the first time just now. For those who don’t know it’s basically just pasta and sauce that you add to cooked hamburger meat to make a whole meal. I always I assumed it had sugar in it because of the packaging to I avoided it. Turns out it’s pretty good, no sweat taste. Maybe anything goes well if you mix it with good meat.

well, yesterday my father managed to make an alfredo sauce with absolutely no flavor. He blames it on the packet he used, but it was grainy and he put cheddar cheese in it. He said we didn't have alfredo cheese and that was why, but then why did he buy alfredo sauce?
There were ham bits in it too, but he didn't let the ham flavors soak into the sauce.

I don't understand it, his cooking has just gotten more and more bland over the years. However, he doesn't seem to be aware. I just shouldn't challenge him on his cooking anymore, he's getting old. It just baffles me that he's unwilling to use any seasoning in a cheese sauce. Oregano really works with a monterey jack/parm sauce.

I fried these:

The box art is bullshit, they're ~1/3-2/3 bread. It was rather disappointing.

A 90's era FreddyChef army (Canadian) ration in a boilbag. Ham omelette. Fucking fantastic. Stole a crate of rations when I left. The ham omellettes, you heat up on the manifold of your jeep and stick in your boots as footwarmers, to open and eat later. Can't do THAT with some POS dehydrated Yank MRE!

Ex-Christmas cold cuts - beef shredded and mixed through pasta with leftover gravy reduction, sliced ham with cheese and crackers, bubble and squeak (a sort of hash br0wn to use up old veg: potato, parsnips, carrots and sprouts) with turkey.
