Containment What If?

Let's say Chris had an accident that would've left him as (even more of a) vegetable.
Given that Barb would still have gotten money via him then, would the overall situation in their house have inproved (with just one person wasting money and it being easier to budget), stayed the same (due to Chris basically being additional expenses but also not wasting money himself) or even worse (with Barb negelecting Chris and wasting even more money with nobody else to answer to)?

What if Chris replaced Benjamin Franklin as one of the founding fathers?

What if Chris had lost virginity at 16? How would that have effected his life?
Potential partner:
  1. 40-year old hooker, 100% of his sex life is on hookers.
  2. Girl of his age, Chris is incapable of keeping secrets so his partner moved to different school and went to gynecologist.
  3. Using the Bill Cosby method, he'll be in prison.
  4. Barb, Cole would have mixed feelings, Chris will no longer have a father or get disowned, and their 2nd divorce.

Either scenario would make for a hell of an old school SVU episode.

My money's on the second. I'm no authority on the US healthcare system, but unless Barb somehow gets the insurance to foot the bill (and I don't see her all too arsed to do that), she'd be further drowning in debt as maintaining someone on life support at home requires renting equipment (which implies a climb in utilities), massive renovations and, more often than not, round-the-clock professional assistance. The upside is, it'd be cheaper for insurance to finally send Chris to receive the merge in an assisted living facility, we'd all have a field day here and such. In which case, I reckon the tugboat check would go straight towards covering Chris's expenses there.
