I never knew Chris made something like this. It is genuinely impressive on a conceptual level. If there exists such a thing as liking his art in a non-ironic way, I’d say… that I do like this.
It really makes me curious where it came from. Like you said, while not exactly groundbreaking or technically competent, it does have genuine merit as artistic expression. Everything else is uniformly just cartoon plots parroted back on the page. As far as I can tell, this is an original idea using symbolism to express genuine emotions. How did this one sneak in there alongside pretend ads for axe body spray?
Perhaps he made it during an art class where some patient teacher was able to guide him through channeling this idea from his autistic mind on to paper. Chris could’ve had the basic concept of drawing himself inside his head and the teacher helped him elaborate on it in a surrealists way.

I'm always relieved when he puts "ME" with an arrow towards whatever asinine character he's pretending to be at the moment. I'm not sure in this pic who the unicorn with blue hair, 2 different colored eyes, and a Sonichu medallion is supposed to be otherwise.

I was just about to post this same one- from a cartooning perspective, it always stuck out to me a bit more. Magi-chan's hands are fucked, but his proportioning/shape language is solid and you can feel a lot of personality from his pose. It's probably the first time I've been able to look at a Sonichu drawing and think "I actually understand how this character's supposed to come across to a reader".
This was made somewhere in 2015, when Chris was really depressed at how he was lonely and how his life didn't seem to have a purpose. Leaked Facebook posts around that time show him posting the same phrase "My mind is a blank" repeatedly. To me, this was when Chris was at his most lucid, since he had to face several unpleasant truths about how he wasted his life. Maybe the introspection he went through helped to conceptualize this. Sad thing is he never followed up on this period by making changes to his life.

The inconsistency of Comic Chris is despite Chris studying himself in the mirror to memorize appearances.
Tragic. Really tragic. He apparently does have the capacity of genuine artistic creativity and personal expression but it is all suppressed in favour of regurgitating the media he consumes. I guess it is way easier to just steal existing things, give them a slight Sonichu coat of paint, and call it his own art. After all, Chris is defined by his laziness and willingness to take the path of least resistance in all things. Truly a shame.
