What is Kiwifarms to you?

It's basically like the small group of friends I used to keep in high school and college but over the Internet: cool, kinda weird but harmless, passionate about shit and always talking about their interests, fun to hang out with and generally good company. Pretty much a relic of a bygone era for both the Internet in terms of older forums kinda being like this and in the real world, with people before social media took hold just being a lot more amicable and more pleasant to be around.

Also I can say niggerfaggot whenever I want and be as genuine as I want on anything I want to talk about so there's that.

  • Facebook and instagram pressure me into adding my irl acquaintances and friends, then I have to act like a normal human to save face, the content is sanitized and rewards grandiose narcissism.
  • Twitter is a black hole that sucks out my will to live then spits me out a broken man.
  • Textual Roleplay sites where I used to run zombie apocalypse, sci-fi and dystopia literate RP's are overrun with ERP's, weebs, minors and furries.
  • Discord is a mixed bag and I've learned if I role the dice one too many times I will surely accidentally see somebodies dick, or worse.
Kiwifarms though? Blends in all the positives of what I liked about other sites and to this day isn't as debased as all the other socials. A mix of news, music, gossip, shitposting and memes is what keeps me coming back for more. Everything I know about the internet has come from here or is documented here, so it feels like I found my home.

Definitively the main site I frequent on a daily basis the past two years, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Glory to KF and it's dwellers. Curse the trolls, peace to everybody else.

Bonus: I can browse KF at work and it looks professional enough to not raise any eyebrows when I leave my PC open. Thank you to users who properly spoiler NSFW.

It was mentioned on the femoid questions thread, but I feel it rings true throughout the forum: this feels like the only place that will autistically answer your questions and not either make a hugbox for you, or just post blacked porn and doomer quotes.

I also like how, with each thread, you can get practical advice. Like the tech tips in Linus' thread, cooking advise in JDS' thread, etc.

Over the years, it's been a lot of different things, but the same.

I have been part of many regular forums with a specific topic focus for many years. And I have lurked on many I never joined. Those I knew I could not bring any value to.

For this reason, I browsed the website for years without an account. Sometimes binging, sometimes not thinking about it for weeks. It was a distraction, something to see fucked up things well documented, organized and archived.

Over the years, seeing the privileges of the non registered accounts more and more restricted, and after many registration freezes, I created an account.

This, combined with the pandemic, made KF my only source of distraction, away from the lunacy of the world. Finally somewhere I could feel at peace. The world can collapse around you and you will smile given the right entertainment.

Now, the world has all caught up, and unfortunately this means that I won't be around here for a while. In a way, I will miss it. In another, I will have other worries, and it's probably a good thing for me.

At the end of the day, KF is my opportunity to voice my opinion, gawk at weirdos I don't know and gain knowledge about random shit I don't care about without Reddit point garbage, because retards will be called out for what they are. It's a community I trust to somewhat self police to common sense.

If anything, I think that honesty is something many of us like KF for in a way. It's liberating to be able to say what you to say without any other worries but to be objectively wrong. That's how people get better.
