What is objectively the best Final Fantasy?

Unironically XV for the characters and setting, despite the game's flaws and troubled production. That might be because it's the first one I actually got to play all the way through, admittedly.

As basic bitch as these picks are, my second picks are tied between VII and IV.

The first Final Fantasy is one I haven't played but it also fascinates me the most since it's essentially a glorified unlicensed video game for 1st Edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.

I don't think there is one. Each of the games are different enough from each other to be classified as their own games and to argue which one is objectively better is almost pointless and just leads to lots of arguing, disagreements and semantics. Then you got to factor in personal taste, which one you started with, experiences associated with each game...

It's IX. No contest.

FF6 of course, for story, characters, and the most important part, the theme song. Terra's Theme sounds awesome in any form, be it original midi format, lone piano, full blown orchestra, or even the Sweden National Guard playing it. The theme has everything, the march to war, the melancholy feeling of loss, and triumph at the end. Out of all the FF games, I'd say that theme encapsulates the game, and the game encapsulates that theme.

Final Fantasy 6 followed by Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - My Life as a King followed by Final Fantasy 7.

VII because it has the best waifus, prove me wrong.
Selphie likes trains and is a milk truck and she saved Midgar from Kefka. Acceptable.

The Gameboy one that started the Mana franchise is such an overlooked gem. Shit, what was its name, again?

Not really fair to announce the Zelda clone as the best FF game, though.

9 is clearly the best. Last in the main series of the classic combat system. Best art design. Best characters. Incredible storyline.

I liked 10 enough but it's storyline was incredibly stupid. It's combat system was pretty good.

The later main series single player games are all trash because the storylines, characters and combat are trash.

FF6.
Legendary ost, legendary opera music.
Ultros became a legendary enemy.
Female main character, diversity points! /sneed
Non cliche story, enemy actually won and destroyed the world.
Very cool party members. Big party too.

Occam's Razor. It's 7. Not because it's overrated, but because it just is, followed closely by 6.

6. It was the only one I could ever really get into. It's also held up well and still looks great, I can't say the same about 7.
