What is objectively the best Final Fantasy?

Yuffie has belts on her shirt somehow.

12's combat was abysmal. What really needs to come back is FFX-2's combat. It's like a snappier ATB version of FFX's with a more traditional class system that you can change on the fly. It's peak.
12's is still just ATB it can also just be automated for fighting trash mobs. Also snappy, bish ATB combat don't get more snappy than 12 as you are in and out with the only seen loading screen being locations. You can ignore the gambit system and manually command your party which is what you have to do against tougher enemies.

Though I did also like X2 combat and it also had blitzball.

FFVI neckbeards love shitting on VII because they're jelous that VII was always the more popular game and because they know that VI is never getting a remake.

I get this vibe when it comes to FF7. I feel like there's people who won't say they like it because it's the most well known or because normies played it. They can't give it any praise and instead have to shit on aspects of it and say "Oh the character development doesn't have the same Je ne sais quoi as FF6". One thing I like about FF7 is I meet people through non gaming communities who turn out to be FF7 fans and can find some common interest in it.

I played FF7 when it first came out and my experience of it is very much tied into a nostalgic time and place. I can still play it today and enjoy it. The remakes I don't really care that much about.

I played FF8 when it came out and had high expectations for it but felt underwhelmed by it but still enjoyed it. I replayed the remaster recently and can appreciate more aspects of it now.

I played FF6 when PS1 did the origins collections. But that was a long time ago. I remember liking it but need to replay it. It seems like a game that if I played it when it released, I could see myself being super into.

That was still a thing in the original version of 12, but the big thing that I liked more was the change of the license board and job system because all the characters kind of just become the same in the original.
It's one of the weirdest things I've experienced in gaming. I must've gotten dumber because I don't remember being confused by the system before, or having as much difficulty. I think part of it is my lack of patience now.

12's is still just ATB it can also just be automated for fighting trash mobs. Didn't feel snappy at all, waiting around for a bar to fill. I don't know why they even let you walk around during combat either, proximity didn't seem to matter much.

X-2 had a good flow to it, and it has that great battle music. XII just never clicked with me.

Do you mean actual action like FF15 & 16 or also ATB? I like ATB personally and it's been around since FF4.

Weirdly I remember liking the original more and progressing further. I didn't understand FF12 Zodiac Age, I had to basically program every little action for AI allies. Not fun.

Yeah I tried FF15 and couldn't take the combat. If I wanted to mash buttons, I'd pay a beat em up or a fighting game. Even the combat system in FF7 remake wasn't my cup of tea. I've always like the ATB though

War of the Lions was the first game I got for PSP, barely cared about turn based or FF but it was 10/10 all around.

FF8 isn't that bad. They just made some retarded choices with the story and the junction system is a mess.

Triple Triad makes up for all of that.

I like both VI and VII for different reasons, never understood the need some people have to shit on one and put the other on a pedestal.
I remember the snobbish attitude to hate VII upon its release. It was such a hipster reaction, because VII was a lot of westerners first proper experience with a JRPG, while those who had played VI on the SNES were compelled to let you know that they liked Final Fantasy before it was cool to do so.

I was in the group of fans who never played the prior entries, and often hung out in IRC chats with a Cloud screen name (which reminds me, my first ever encounter with a furry was someone who used Seto, RedXIII's dad) so I had to endure those reactions regularly.

I blame the marketing for why VI wasn't initially as big as VII. I saw ads for the game back in the day, but they didn't show anything that appealed to me. It was by chance that I stumbled upon Chrono Trigger (my first Jrpg) and that probably got me to give FFVII a try when I first got a PS1.

On the topic of the thread, there is no objective best FF, as each one does different things better than the others. I had a great time with emulating the GBA ports of IV thru VI (and even I), and you can't go wrong with VII and IX. I only came to appreciate X with its remastered port that I played on VITA.

VIII and XII were slightly disappointing for me at the time (tho they are far from bad games, they just dont hit the highs of the better games, tho VIIIs battle themes are some of the best), while XIII and XV killed any enthusiasm I had for the series going forward.

If I had to pick one that gives the best bang for your buck, it would have to be Tactics, of course.

I own more or less all FF games worth playing, and I've tried to get into just about any of them. Only 10 and 15 did I actually beat. I swear there's some gimmicky dogshit system to each of them. "Oh jrpgs are just grindfests where you grind xp to overcome any bosses". Nah that literally only applies to Pokemon. SMT/Persona? Exploit demons and evolutions. FF? Do some retarded minigame for 3 hours and get Omegafister+2
