This is an overly long message that I’m crossposting on here and OnA that I hope will ease some tensions. I'm putting my dumb leg up on the coffee table as if it's going to accomplish anything..

I started Patrick’s thread on here because I thought no one would be willing to put up with the bullshit that Quasi has. The O&A community lived on thanks to Quasi, and that set the stage for the current situation. I was going to try to independently grow a group of Patwatchers using only native Kiwis; I never expected Kiwis and Rascals to coexist.
Most people who are familiar with the O&A “culture” know that there’s an extreme hostility toward almost all authority. Most don’t know that fighting with the main moderator is what got the original subreddit closed down, not Patrick or the Reddit security team.
I think there’s been a fundamental, knee-jerk misperception of
@Null by some members of the O&A community. I’ll draw upon my dismal past working in restaurants to draw comparisons, if you don’t mind. If any of you have ever worked in a restaurant, you know that you never get too cute with the dishwasher–ever. It’s a shitty, dirty, sweaty, thankless, poorly paying job where you’re constantly exposed to sharp edges and caustic elements. The owner will fire you, but the dishwasher will just walk out. Which one is locking the Patrick thread? I think it’s more the latter.
Null is the restaurant owner; however, he’s also the dishwasher, because he’s operating a huge restaurant on a food cart budget. He’s been DDoS’d, demonetized, and vexatiously litigated against to the point of having to sell patches and stickers without a payment processor to remain solvent. Both the owner and dishwasher are prone to yelling. I think when certain elements of the O&A community sense hostility from Null they tend to perceive it purely as some prick owner in a starched shirt berating his underlings. They don’t hear the yelling of a dishwasher who moved to another continent to unclog a toilet for the fifth time in one night; meanwhile, a five-gallon tea urn just got spilled all over the floor.
Taking credit for a bomb threat that provably never happened can still create dirty dishes that have to be washed when some Keffals-type screenshots it and hands it over to zero-integrity media who are salivating for tawdry headlines to draw in click-money (remember the Kiwifarms MURDER TALLY?). Taking credit, no matter how cartoonishly, for a SWATing can still clog the toilet when some law enforcement agency subpoenas the last 24 months of all users’ private chat logs and the site owner’s banking information and medical records just so they can appease some rabid Twitter mob by saying they’re “actively pursuing the case.” Who has to clean all that shit up?
Speaking of restaurants, if we’re being honest here, Null’s probably going to get Sopranos finale’d someday by a guy in a dress. I feel inclined to just let it go, even if he did come in and yell at us like a big meanie.
Anyway, this was my attempt at being a diplomat. When I was little my Mother took me to five doctors, and two of them said I probably had Aspergers–that’s how little I’m working with as far as interpersonal skills, charisma, etc. I hope that relations can improve. Let me know if I can help.
