What's funny is that from a policy standpoint I align more closely with the Democrats than the Republicans, but the fact that they are just so fucking smug about everything makes it hard to vote for them. It's not good enough to win elections and pass policy, you also have to let objectors know that they are fundamentally Bad People on the Wrong Side of History while doing it. The "poor white people vote against their own interest" refrain ties into this. It's like that South Park episode when one of the families moves to the Bay Area and they all start sniffing their own farts combined with thinking that the other side is not simply wrong on the issues, but irredeemabley evil for coming to a different conclusion.
This goes hand in hand with the smug attitude, but their absolute denial that their side engages in dirty politics is quite annoying as well. Michelle Obama's line "When they go low, we go high" comes to mind and you see this play out in many DNC aligned places online. "We need to fight as dirty as the GOP. The only reason we lose elections is because we take the high road."
They all but accused Boof Kavanuagh of hosting high school gang rape parties without evidence and more recently people like AOC are coming awfully close to accusing certain Republican colleagues of plotting to murder other members of the House. Andy Harris needs to explain why he tried to bring a gun into the chamber and hopefully Boebert was just giving her family a tour of her new office. If both incidents turn out to be nothingburgers as I suspect, then the attacks on the reps are absolutely dirty smears.
The year zero attitude wokes have regarding culture is revolting too. It's not good enough to remove statues of confederates (which I support!) you also have to remove Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt. No more reading To Kill a Mockingbird or watching Gone with the Wind because they don't align with the sensibilities of this particular nanosecond.
Lastly, the "party of empathy" schtick is really fucking grating. Not trying to sperg about reddit, per se, but r/leopardsatemyface has half a million (mostly liberal) subs and it exists to make fun of conservatives who have fallen on hard times ostensibly due to politicians they support. Talk about empathy.
