How puritanical they are, and still have the audacity to act like its the right-wingers who are still the pearl-clutching fundies of the Satanic Panic era. They're like something out of a Nathanial Hawthorne novel. The sad thing is 20 years ago I would have been considered a liberal, not just a liberal but a progressive liberal. I'm completely against censorship in all forms, I advocate free speech, essentially my outlook was 'if you're not hurting anyone, idgaf what you do with your life because its none of my damn business' I had/have both right-wing and left-wing friends and never got shit for it, if I saw a piece of media I didn't like, I just ignored it and didn't try to have it erased from all platforms, you get the idea. I'm seen as an alt-right Nazi these days by most leftists now. To paraphrase Norma Desmond from Sunset Blvd "I didn't change, they did"

Kinda rambling here, but I think that's what pisses me off about the left the most, they've become the Moral Guardians, the book burners, the "D&D is satanic and rock music will lead to impure thioughts" 80's era fundies, the "stop having fun if it's not Big Daddy Government approved fun" They can't just chill the fuck out and let things be. They're tilting at windmills because a 30+ year old TV show or a novel written 150 years ago doesn't align with their constantly changing warped sense of right and wrong. It's exhausting dealing with these people anymore. I've since stopped referring to myself as a liberal and just call myself a libertarian if asked.

There is a good thread up about
Why do you lean left:

Let's talk about the inverse. What is it about the left that makes you reactionary against them?

What is it about the left that makes you angry? That riles you up?

If you wore a viking helmet and had poor impulse control, what would make you storm the capitol?

I've asked some friends and put it in the poll, but feel free to add reasons why the modern left is the fucking worst.
The worst thing, bar none, is that everything is politics 100% of the time.

Alternatively, has anyone said that the worst thing about the left is MovieBob yet?

Maybe not the worst thing, but I find the middle-managerial tone of woke parlance grating. "You do not get to x." "We need to have a discussion about y." "We need to re-center/normalize z." etc. It feels like everyone with an active twitter presence is LARPing as a hall monitor. Actual humans do not talk like this outside a corporate environment

I'm going to preference this by saying that I'm not a huge fan of the right by any means, and I think most of what I'm going to say can be applied to them as well as the left, but I tend to side with the right most of the time because I think their not quite as bad as the left in this regard.

My big problem is how short sighted they tend to be. It seems to me that almost every fix for an issue they come up with is a bandaid quick fix solution that sounds good, feels good, but ultimately only makes the problem worse or is flat out contradictory with their other states positions, but they never stop to think through what an action leads towards.

Take for example, my personal bugaboo, raising the minimum wage. I am dead set against ever raising the minimum wage. Not because I own a business. Your not going to hurt me by raising it. I'm just going to raise the price to keep my margins and pass the new costs on to the customers, and so is every business in the state. You are only going to hurt everyone who ever worked and even got 1 raise at any point in your life. Take where I live, NJ is in the process of raising it's minimum wage from $7 to $15 an hour. Sounds great, doesn't it? But what if you don't look at it in raw dollars, but think about it in terms of purchasing power. Minimum wage is 1 unit of purchasing power no matter what the dollar amount is. If you think in those terms you see what raising it actually does. The guy who runs my center store section makes $22.50 an hour. So let's say that's roughly 3 units of purchasing power just to keep it round for this argument. Once the state mandate hits and the minimum goes up he's only going to make 1.5 units of power. Anyone who was minimum is still only going to make only 1 unit because the actual dollar amount doesn't matter. Anyone who made between 7 and 15 gets shoved right down to the bottom again. So who does it help? No one. Who does it hurt? Everyone. It even gets me eventually because all it does is make these units of purchasing power disappear. Instead of a town full of people who had 1.5 to 2 units I now run a business in a town full of 1's and 1.1's at best. That's less disposable income that may potentially be spent at my business. And it sucks.

But I know what a lot of the left thinks. "Well just give everyone a raise so they keep their purchasing power!". In a perfect world I would, but I'm not. I'll tell you why. If I do that I have to raise my prices accordingly, but I'm competing with ever other grocery store and convenience store in driving distance. I don't know what any of them would do in this situation, so I have to assume they won't. So I can't. They don't know what I'm going to do either. And it's not like all the businesses can get together and decide what we should do collectively either, because that's collusion, and that's super illegal, and I'm not doing time with the Feds. So I have to assume the worst and act accordingly, even though I actually sympathize with my employees, and would love to be the best boss in the universe ever,. I can't because I'll go out of business because I'd have to set my prices at 3 times what they are now to maintain my margins. So in the end instead of helping people at the bottom, it just throws more people who weren't at the bottom anymore right back into the pit.

The actual solution is unionization, but there need to be serious reform in the unions themselves to make them more attractive to the potential rank and file workers, and they have to come from within the unions themselves. Aside from the public workers unions, most of the service industry unions are pretty weak. Most people don't want to unionize when there's no tangible benefit that they're going to spend those dues on. Any union that advocates for raising the statewide minimum wage is a shitty union that's actively working against itself. A union should push for what it can get it's members bad opposed to the statewide mandate. If your pushing for shit for non members what good are you to your dues paying members? You actually hurt them in the long run. There was a union in the papers that made an op ed piece when the wage thing went through that was CROWING about what good they had done pushing for a statewide minimum wage increase. They were so proud of themselves. If I was in that union I think I'd push for an immediate leadership change. They were that dumb.

It's not just minimum wage is hat gets me, it's a lot of things. Like I could have picked apart section 8 because it's a good idea but it's saddled with so many exploitable loopholes that it gaurantees slum lords and ghettos will always be a thing. Or any number of other issues. Issues are issues because they're complicated. If they were as simple as "just do X thing then it solves itself" then they'd be solved and not be issues.

I'd be a lot more in favor of the left if they actually thought things trough instead of always going for the simple "solution", just because it sounds good, or you want to look like a good person to your Facebook friends.

First, bravo to everyone else in this thread! I agree with you. There isn't really anything more I can add to this or else I would be redundant. In other threads, I've ranted and rambled a lot already concerning my feelings about the left. Most of us on Kiwifarms agree they're awful. We understand why they suck and what they're doing to make society unlivable.

Every day I wonder this: What exactly can we do about it? If there is nothing we can do about it, then when will they peak and start to collapse? Something's got to give.

This is a really good point, issues are complicated. I'm not sure if it's because of more millennials being liberals or if liberals were always a bit like this, but I feel it's a very millennial attitude. "Just do one simple thing and the problem is solved!" It's a very childlike approach to life.
Some that come to mind are just give homeless people housing, and just let drug users use drugs. The whole sending social workers instead of cops is also a really childish feel-good solution. There's a lot of these solutions that you can just easily imagine coming from the mouth of a young kid who has been given a really basic outline of the issues. "Daddy, why don't we give homeless people houses? Then they won't be homeless anymore!"

I was posting my idea for a new platform. Neither right no left. Once done you can tell me to delete my account cause its retarded or discuss what you think is good.

Basically the idea is pay people to not be social justice warriors via private welfare networks. So non whites get peeled off the current system and onto yours.

First get some money

Bribe err lobbying local politicians
Hijack resources from politician has power over. Great example bail outs.

Transfer resources into private welfare networks. Only people loyal to you get free stuff.

This is known as vampirism. Vamp off one system to build up another.

Anyone who doesnt support system gets the law. Say if you re neighbor is dealing crack. If he isnt a due paying party members (but you are) he gets taken care of. Fast. Vice versa? You get hassled and he dont. You might not like that but thats how things are now.

The only correct answer is that they are hypocrites.
The worst part about the far left is they want all their progressive demands met today, when that’s not how American politics works. Social progress takes time. Black Americans and women have been fighting for equal rights and social acceptance for over a century, the LGBT+ will get there, but it takes time and a whole generation to die off first. It sucks, but it sucked for women in the 1900s and black Americans in the 1800s.
We have a government where everything needs to be debated and compromised so things actually stick around. When Obama tried ruling with executive orders, Trump just undid what he could. When Trump tried ruling with executive orders, Biden just undid what he could. Gee, I wonder what will happen when a Republican is President? This is why we need bipartisan support on issues, so one side doesn’t immediately undo progress because “the other side did it and I don’t like the other side.”

The second worst part of the far left is how quickly they write people off as an “-ist” or a “-phobic” when they’re not, they just have a different viewpoint.
A old acquaintance of mine has gotten big on the idea that disabled people should get the Rona vaccine first and anybody who disagrees is an ableist (they’re not disabled, if that matters to anyone) Like, am I ableist for saying “Well, no. Healthcare workers need it first, then essential workers that can’t stay home, then the immunocompromised, then the elderly, then the general public can have it.”
I get it, racists are bad, sexists are bad, homophobes are bad, all the -ists and -phobes are bad, but that can’t be your write off when someone disagrees with you.
But progressives have been getting their demands met for over half a century. Not all at once mind you, but gradually over time. They played the long game since the 1960s and with control of all cultural institutions and now the government, they can now do whatever they wish and will act accordingly. Trump was the last barrier for them to cross and now that he's outside of the White House, they will work towards implementing harsh mechanisms throughout this decade. They assume that they have won, and won forever. Anything resembling a counterculture is problematic, which is why they are so in favor of censoring anything right of Stalin. Besides, the LGBT community already has equal rights and the SJWs are now working towards far more insidious "progression" like child transitioning and child sex. Why do you think it's considered heretic to say that people cannot be non-binary?

The only way to defeat wokeism is for a spiritual counterculture that supports strong family structures, stability, hard work, high expectations, and rejects the "Consume everything" culture. We are facing the grandest ideological warfare in all of human history and we have to act as if cultural institutions and our government wants us dead.

I think the most annoying thing about leftists, and the primary reason why I can't identify with their causes, is their persistent attitude towards substituting ideology for personal responsibility.
Leftists say that women should be allowed to get abortions. Her body, her choice. Under certain circumstances- like rape, incest, or teen pregnancies- I would agree. But then leftists go the extra mile and say that grown women should be allowed to get abortions simply because they wanted to have barebacked sex. That's not liberating, that's infantilizing.
Leftists say that blacks are being discriminated against, and that police profiling targets them unfairly. Under certain circumstances, I agree. But if you try to bring up black culture and the retarded macho attitudes blacks have towards crime and resisting arrest as possible reasons for why they might be targeted then suddenly you're the racist. How dare you even suggest that blacks might be partially responsible for their own plight? That's not liberating, that's infantilizing.
Leftists say that college graduates have no place to go after they get their degree- that they're tricked into accumulating mountains of debt over a degree that may or may not even be useful. I agree, I think that modern universities are extremely dishonest about the actual value of the degrees they peddle. I think we should be trying harder as a culture to get kids to aim for jobs that actually have some security. But then leftists start talking about simply raising taxes to pay off student debt. That's not liberating, that's infantilizing.
^^^
The worst part about all of this is that, on a certain level, it is attractive. What leftists tell people is what they want to hear, what they like hearing. Its not your fault that you're in debt- its the fault of those evil capitalists who make billions of dollars. Its not your fault that you're a hypersexual degenerate, its the fault of old white Christians for oppressing people who think differently and suppressing the desires of an entire generation. Its not your fault that nobody wants to hire you- its the fault of capitalism for not recognizing the value of skillsets that don't provide an immediate monetary reward. In a communist society, you'd definitely have a job,

So, I have issues with the right. I’m not shedding a tear for Trump even though I voted for him. I don’t mind Democrats or Republicans but what I despise is the insincere fake activism of middle class and upper middle class progressives. TBH I hate how so many of them want others to do the dirty work which IMO is encapsulated in this quote: “If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump? You know what I mean?”

To her, and many progressives, they want the service provided by workers without having to work themselves. They want to dick around all day on autistic art pieces but they aren’t interested in doing any labor: Whether it’s done by a red neck, a latino, or a black man, it doesn’t matter, so long as it’s someone else. They expect their trash to be taken out, their lawns to be cut, and their debts to be paid by anyone else. Social Justice is just a way for them to pretend that they didn’t have it good and more importantly if they’re failures that they didn’t screw it up. They not only use it as a shield but also a cudgel...

Champagne socialists and other gated community types are insufferable no matter what they believe in. I'd rather talk with a Democrat union worker from Pennsylvania (lol no refunds) instead of some stuffy country club Republican.
The supposition that they're too good to do manual labor is why they're so contemptable. I hate communists but good God damn do these uppity fart-huffers make me think Pol Pot was right about them. Force them to work and if they survive they'll be taken down a peg or seven for the rest of their lives.

The left as a whole seems more susceptible to this line of thinking than the right if only because rugged individualism is still valued among rank and file conservatives. Like the lefties in this thread have lamented, many of their ideological peers/party mates have gone looney with the in-vogue aggrievement-victimhood mentality. These same nutjobs think of themselves as deserving better work than that icky manual labor that flyover racists and Mexicans do.
It's one thing to think of yourself as better than a McJob, another entirely to close out anything involving real effort because you have some vellum from a diploma mill. I work for a living so watching these arrested development cases whinge about the firstest of first-world problems (like "representation in fiction for minority du jour" or "niche 'rights' struggle #27,013: Affects 2 enby persyns :(" ) is a real test to my patience. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for these retards to align with you politically and having to bend to their whims.

I think it's the lack of being able to reason with them in the slightest. It's like Jew media can just snap its fingers and they'll go after anyone designated an enemy as if they're a trained attack dog. It also doesn't matter if there's literally video evidence proving Jew media lied. They'll just switch over and find some other reason to attack the designated target. The biggest examples of this I can think of are Kyle Rittenhouse, and Nick Sandmann. This kind of thing has also gotten progressively worse from what I've seen to the point at which they'll even flip on family members if Jew media has branded them an enemy.

The smell of cabbage and their love of clogs. Oh and the purity police shit. Liberalism is not conservatism, make up your fucking mind.

I don't like either side. I don't like the idea the simple act of leaving the house could lead to some fucktard brainwashed prick deciding today is my turn to get my life ruined because I won't put up with their bullshit.

I don't want to go full retard 1488 either and binge listen to Rush Limborger and spout that side's garbage. I want out of this clown world. I'm sick of all these people.
