For a site with 100K+ users and countless more lurkers, there's obviously a huge diversity of opinions and a lot of people that take them way too seriously. Other sites like 8chan had a similar userbase but they were always way more fractured than this site has been.
What's the secret? Is it bullying new users into understand site culture and norms? Is it separating discussions into hugboxes and bullying users posting the "wrong" opinion in the wrong thread? So many other sites have crashed and burned with far fewer users, what's the secret here?

Common enemy? Maybe enemy is too harsh of a word. But, a lot of groups can only exist here or were kicked off of other platforms. Perhaps similar reactions or experiences on those platforms unites us?

I mean reddit is a pretty awful place.

1. you're gay if you take e-drama super-duper seriously
2. you're gay if you use kf for political crusades, purity testing, factional fighting, etc.
And 3. especially since the #DropKiwiFarms Trannypocalypse (but even before that, with legal issues, Christchurch fallout, general media/mainstream hostility, probably going back to Vordrak shit-flinging) the site often having a common, shared enemy/threat, is probably good for cohesiveness, or at least deterring obsessing over slap-fights.

What's the secret?
Everyone who stays here cares more about being able to say what they want than they do about stopping other people from saying what they want. Even the Lidl Drips of the world would tell you to kill yourself before telling mods you should be banned.

That, and whenever users tip into a catfight null sends them Westward to colonize their own state thread where they can mind their own business and tend to their strange customs. Except for being a monarchy it's the most American website online.

Null being the boss also the fact the mostly right wing user base for the most part tended to be kept in check same with the lefties by the mods and admins who are good tard wranglers also 2020-2024 really tested the site.
Lastly you can have an opposing view and won't get mass banned like reddit does.

I hate this word but "tolerance". It comes from the top down. - Null is extremely tolerant in his dedication allowing Free Speech.

Because pretty much anyone can stay on the farms as long as they can handle a little shit talk and not freak out about stickers, it helps if they are a little funny as well.
