Y'know, normal ticks are just as scary as any other bug. But fucking engorged ticks are the worst. As a kid, I remember having to check a dog we had for ticks. I remember one being the thickness (or thicker) of a ballpoint pen. I thought it was a big skin tag or a tumor or something, but no, goddamn, it was a tick full of blood.

Given the condition of the house, and the presence of pets (cats at the time), the Chandler house would likely have fleas. The general condition of the house would also give the idea that they have bedbugs, cockroaches, flies, and ants.
