This is really only a fraction of the story, they've shown great hostility to those they have power over and consider darker skinned people to be lower castes and revere the west and lighter skinned people and don't want to do anything to make India better. They always wish they were different but don't want to put in the work to change anything, this is likely because of the fact that they practice Idolatry. Because of this there will always be insecurity about being Indian and a certain materialism.

When I read American stereotypes, it makes me just laugh because all of those things are indirectly just too much of a good thing, which is still good. A quick example is that yes, Americans are obsessed with guns, but we can have guns and we have them because our property is expensive and worth keeping. In third world countries you don't need a gun because your life is worthless and you will never own anything for more than a week. Also in America we solved this problem by having the majority of laws on the state level which means you have 50 choices where to live for it to be the closest to what you want.
