What movie did you see recently?

Yesterday, I went to see Solo with my family. Perhaps it’s because I had zero expectations, but I thought it was pretty ok. It made me facepalm less than TLJ, that’s for sure. Love interest girl didn’t need to be there and main guy has nowhere the amount of charisma Harrison Ford has. Still, entertaining.

I've been watching found footage films:
The Den- good.
The Bay- good, gross and scary.

Watched Love, Simon by mere accident recently.

In case you don't know this movie, it starts with some teenager talking about how good his life is and how awesome his friends and family are, but that he has a secret that noone knows about . . .
So yeah, he's gay. And when someone from his town writes about his own gayness on an anonymous local gossip forum, Simon makes a new e-mail account under false name and writes to this other person about his own homosexuality.

The movie could have been interesting in theory, but jesus fucking christ, is it ever ladden with stereotypes and atrociously written characters - and it totally forgot to give Simon a reason not to come out to his friends. Simon behaves as if his social surroundings were Stranger Danger-tier paranoid about homosexuality, but noone gives a shit. To the contrary, every single character in this movie is supportive of gays with only 2 exceptuons: two characters that make fun of the already established gay dude, who pretty much make a lame kindergarten-level joke and then get "rekt" by said gay dude with a quippy attitude-ladden comeback. Every. Single. Time.
You can't even call them homophobes, since all they do is make a lame joke, get their shit slapped verbally and then meekly strolling away.

There's a couple good and funny scenes, but overall, it just fails to be half as much of a drama as it attempts to be.

Kiki's Delivery Service. A beautiful, feel-good movie filled with lovely visuals and interesting character arcs. I'm watching the 'original' version, but I need to watch the dubbed version sometime — the one with Phil Hartman in it, of course.

Despicable Me 3.

It says something when the Minions movie is less annoying.

The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2 as an IMAX Double Feature (I never saw the original as a kid for some reason). And John Lennon, I agree with you about the sequel being better. It was a more interesting take on the concepts from the original movie.

Just saw Incredibles 2, I think it's the most meh/mediocre movie Pixar ever made. See the first one instead! At least it isn't as bad as the Cars movies *shutter*.

I mentioned it in the recommended thread but I rewatched Buried with Ryan Reynolds (pre-Deadpool) and wow, I need to own this film. What a great movie and the ending is so intense. I wish I had gotten to see it in the theaters.

I recently saw The Road to Utopia and it was one of the greatest comedies I've ever seen. Good songs, acknowledgement and subversion of the series, Bing not getting the girl, over all hilarious. Not my favourite film (Sunset Blvd.) or what I consider to be the greatest film (Casablanca) but over all fantastic. It probably helped that it has a "Gold in them Hills" type story which I love, and the fact it makes good jokes towards Bing and Hollywood in general. It would have been great if it won the best original academy award but as it went up Blue Dahlia, I feel that two films were jilted. I'm currently watching Road to Hong Kong and I'm loving it, it will probably replace Morocco as my second favourite Road To ... film but I'll have to see how the astronaut stuff works out. If anyone cares, the third best in my eyes is either Zanzibar or Rio, with Singapore being fine with a bit of making me uncomfortable due to brown face, and Bali being horse shit after Rio. Utter garbage. Boring, unfunny, worst songs in the series, and a dumber plot than usual. They don't even get to Bali. And the colour print is horrible but as it's in public domain, it's unrealistic to expect it to be preserved. I gues it does have a good joke aboyt leaving while Bing sings which I do on occasion.

Edit: I think I said too much. Sorry

Edit 2: I decided that upon finishing Hong Kong that my favourite would be a tie between Morocco and Utopia as Utopia has superior jokes and plot but I love me Arabia and Morocco has better songs, and better jokes about its songs. Hong Kong is now two, the rest of the list remains the same,

I finally watched the Warcraft movie and it was...not bad-ish? It gave me some nostalgia about the first games (not WoW) and it kinda made me salty that Warcraft got an alright movie and DnD got that shitfest movie with knockoff Wil Wheaton.
The third one with the all-evil alignment party was a fun little pile.

Deadpool 2. It was funny. Pretty much just more of the same with slightly sappier sappy bits and a lot more characters.

I just got out of the theater after seeing Jurassic World 2. It was the worst piece of shit I’ve seen in theaters since Alien Covenant. It was also the worst theater experience I’ve had in a long ass time.

Saw the Death Wish remake. Y'know, it was actually a pretty enjoyable movie. I went into it with low expectations, but it was honestly not nearly as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Plus some of the kills were really satisfying.

I watched The Hours and Times (1991) after finding a low quality version with Japanese subtitles of the film on nicovideo

For a low budget Beatles gay fan fiction it was actually okay, especially if you compare it to gutter trash like Fifty Shades of Grey. The film was too short though so the director didn't explore John Lennon's and Brian Epstein's relationship as much as he could have

Just watched Birdboy: The Forgotten Children, really good and more drug use than I thought it would have. If you want to watch a unique euro animation which isn't too long it is well worth the watch.

For a second, I thought the title was "Buried with Ryan Reynolds" and thought that it soundes fucking badass.
