tl;dr -- This is a giant fucking nothingburger. There's absolutely no new info about Hunter Biden whatsoever here that damns anyone.

People were hoping for a smoking gun and they got a wet fart. However, this basically confirms a lot of what everyone already thought was going on, with internal emails instead of innuendo from the WH Press Sec.

Also, thanks to the Berenson lawsuit, we know that there are other subjects where the government took a heavier hand in moderating the platform. There's likely more internal emails to drop in the coming days... or rather, there better be.

What I don't like is the guy who had the laptop took an image of the hard drive and gave it to Rudy Giuliani. What right does he have to take an image of the system's drive and give it to anyone, let alone the well established political enemy of the person in question that may have used that laptop? The image of that hard drive is ethically tainted. The information on it should never have been given to anyone. What flowed from that, I don't care about, because the NYP never should have been able to write that story in the first place.

The guy pulled a forensic hard drive image because once he realized what he had there was good chance of getting the Epstein treatment. When the FBI just sat on the thing for a year+... making it public probably seemed like a good idea, and releasing it to someone who'd make use of it was probably the best bet to get it out there. There's still a decent chance that we'll hear of this IT guy committing suicide by a double tap to the back of the head, Gary Webb-style.

Also, by this logic the Washington Post should have never broken the Watergate story... or pretty much everything Wikileaks ever published, including the Snowden docs. Imagine a Kiwi Farmer coming out against publishing or discussing other people's dirty laundry because of the dubious nature of the source.

If I'm not mistaken, the laptop was seized by the government as part of an investigation, and he released the copy of the hard drive contents to Giuliani after that. Once the machine was seized, he had no appropriate reason to retain a copy of the personal contents of that hard drive. It would literally be no different than him keeping a copy of the hard drive contents after someone picked up their system. Also, given who he gave the copy to, it was clearly politically motivated. The entire thing is unethical and inappropriate.

They seized the laptop AFTER the story started circulating. Also, if you don't like the idea of getting your hardware taken if you don't respond within a specific number of days after getting your hardware repaired, there's a simple solution: don't do business with places that have that in their agreement. Shit, I worked at a cell phone repair place, even though the agreement said 90 days after completion of the repair, we usually waited another 90 days after the period specified in the agreement and kept contacting them so we wouldn't be fucking them over. Hunter Biden was a retard who signed a repair agreement over a computer that contained self incriminating evidence, and then didn't pick it up. A repair shop shouldn't be on the hook to store people's shit indefinitely, especially when repairs are pay on pickup.

In some ways, this is just more of Musk trolling the wokescolds who hate him. None of this is new information - but only if your news comes from a variety of sources rather than only ones morally approved of by the REEEEEEEEing class. Those people have spent two years denying and discrediting the story, pushing the same narratives. Even up to a few weeks ago when places like CBS finally admitted that it was real, that didn't mean they suddenly treated the things found on it as news - that was all years ago, it was just dick pics, what are you, some kind of 'but her emails' Trump supporter?

And all of this is happening on Twitter, a place the Taylor Lorenzes and Ben Collinses of the world, 'reporters on misinformation', are addicted to and feel personally violated that it no longer bends to their will. These are people who have been complaining about the Nazis running Twitter for years, just because moderation decisions have only gone their way 95% of the time, and can't handle that they've nowhere to go after Nazi now that someone they really don't like owns Twitter and their vapid screeching can't change that.

So in a way, this is more of Musk rubbing their noses in the fact that they don't control the narrative anymore - but they did. Despite their denials, their equivocations, their dismissive mocking, blocking and sometimes brigading of anyone who challenged them, the people working for Twitter actively controlled what wasn't allowed on the platform for purely political reasons, while doing nothing about the things like CP. And this arrangement was well-suited to the majority of left-wing pundits, activists and general loudmouths on the platform.

The whole issue with Hunter Biden's laptop is that it isn't a nothingburger of a story, and the sex and drugs are more of a distraction than anything else. But it's been treated like a nothingburger for two years by a majority of the press, and also by a big tech company that took it upon itself to decide it was a nothingburger story when it was breaking news, and these are some of the receipts for that.

And so for our benefit, we get to watch the usual suspects try, with more and more flopsweat, their usual tactics. Free PR for the richest man in the world! Revenge pornography! It was a private company they could do what they want - but they can't now, because now it's not what I want! As I said earlier, I appreciate that we have receipts. But I also appreciate watching partisan hacks forced to make their hypocrisy blatant and their double standards explicit.

People have been allowed to speak freely about this conspiracy theory for the last two years. If the evil shadowy democrat organization wanted to quash the story, they'd have stopped it from even spreading in the first place by finding and destroying the laptop or whatever other means are at their disposal. Twitter would've just deleted every tweet talking about it on sight if it were really as "suppressed" as people claim it was. People are currently freely talking about it right now and spamming leaked pics of Hunter Biden coked up out of his mind.

Literally everything about this laptop is out there and absolutely none of this info required dissemination through Twitter to be released.

This story has been on national news since 2020. Mainstream conservative Media outlets on TV have covered this story for two entire years to audiences of millions. Donald Trump and Giuliani ran their mouths about how catastrophic this story would be during the dying months of Trump's 2020 campaign. This isn't some plot twist secret in some kind of spy flick.

When Elon promised that he'd reveal info about how Twitter "suppressed" the Laptop story, I thought he'd show code or algorithmic shifts that diminished the presence of Hunter Biden's name on Twitter search or trending. Instead, we've been given copy-pastes of emails from the representatives of then-private citizen Joe Biden asking Twitter to remove illegally acquired revenge pornography of his son.
