Unlikely. Criminal Insanity is different than Chris Insanity. Criminal Insanity means they could not understand what they did was wrong (and very hard to prove) whereas Chris knew what he was doing was illegal and hid facts to cover up his crimes. Whatever time he does in prison will likely be minimum sentencing due to his diminished mental faculties, but he will be punished. The judge could order upon Chris's release that he live in a group home/halfway house until deemed no longer a threat to society (at least where I live, not sure if that's the same in VA, so I am assuming here), and can maintain steady employment and housing. In Chris's case this means the halfway house until he dies.Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Chris was deemed unfit to stand trial and put in an institution.
