What supplements do you take?

I used to take a metric fuck ton of supplements, I've skimmed it down over the last few years

DHEA: most common hormone on the human body and is converted to other things. I believe 20% or so or testosterone is converted from DHEA. As you age natural production slowly decreases.

HMB: a metabolite that helps support muscle tissue. Can supposedly support promote muscle generation but has been investigated for older adults to prevent loss of muscle tissue.

Creatine + Beet Root Powder: I think 20g (edit: 8g +amino acids apparently) and 2 scoops every morning before my daily 10k. The beet root powder really does seem to help endurance, at least for a time. Creatine is well creatine it seems like it might have some benefits aside from just exercise at least if you believe some nutrition YouTubers.

Those are the two I feel actually do something, I try and eat a wide and varied fresh diet to get other things I might of taken in supplement form just a few years ago. That said I do take a "Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM" mix, I believe it's for arthritis but I take it to support my joints and connective tissue because as I'm a daily runner. I have no idea if it helps, but it's quite cheap and I figure a good stopgap for particular nutrients I'm not going to encounter in significant quantities in my normal diet.

I honestly keep it really light. I take an Omega 3 supp, an iron supp, Vit D and Diet Whey protein powder, which is good for me. I've noticed it's massively helped with hunger cravings.

when i was actually lifting
double scoop protein shake
creatine
met rx protein bar
if i need pre workout i just did a monster or caffeine pill, its the same shit
caffeine pill is 200 mg. performance enhancing range is 400-600mg I think.
fish oil, 2-3×5000iu vitamin d, zinc, magnesium

Akkermansia for gut health, Ashwaganda for stress, magnesium glycinate, potassium citrate, zinc, and calcium+D3 for just good electrolyte health.

I'm taking a bunch of b1 an b12 and fish oil and d3 and fish oil and black walnut.
I'm having a lot of memory problems so i'm worried I'm taking multiples, but I think most of those just turn your pee neon when you take too much.

I just take a multivitamin, ashwaganda, and magnesium. Are there any supplements that actually work to increase appetite? I'm trying to gain weight but I only eat like 2 small meals a day.

Dha-500-1g
Zinc-15mg
Ashwaganda-300mg
Citicholone-300mg
Bacopa monnori-50mg
One a day
Magnesium L-threonate-144mg
Vitamin-d-50mcg
L-theanine-100mg
N.A.C-600mg ( sometimes 1200mg but I get histamine issues )

If and when I have alot to do, I will take 100mg of Phenylpiracetam but thats rare.

You should just a more calorie laden meal if you want to gain weight.

It's probably been mentioned in the thread already but it needs to be mentioned more: Most of the supplements are snake oil.
The "test boosters", the BCAAs, the fat burners are amongst the strongest offenders on the list of fraudulent supplements. BCAAs are an exceptional scam. Test boosters don't boost shit. Even the things that are "scientifically proven" to provide boost in testosterone in some people like Ashwaganda, boost an absolute fuck-all, like 60-90ng/dl. Fat burners don't burn shit, just drink more coffee and green tea.

That being said, in days when I won't be able to reach my protein goal I have a protein shake. I also take D3+K2 because I'm a rat spending most of my day away from the sun, and Magnesium for recovery.
Creatine is also top tier, probably the best supplement you can have when training, but last time I was taking it I experienced some heavy hair loss. It stopped when I stopped the creatine so I'm not taking it anymore. I know it's not supposed to cause hair loss but better safe than sorry lol I like my hair.

Genko Bibos any good? I hear it shilled and promoted by a lot of wellbeing and nutritionists.

Is it overrated, the best thing ever, just mid?

Ghost BCAAs so good, every other BCAA powder I find has caffeine in it and just gives me the worst headache.
Can't even workout anymore without BCAA powder, gives me such an extra boost.

Sports Research Fish Oil
One a Day Men's Multivitamin
Sports Research Biotin

MetaMucil sometimes (bricked)

When I was lifting I took Creatine and Gold Standard Whey w/ Whole Milk.

My first 3 are every day. I feel even, my heart is always healthy, and my hair and nails grow faster and nicer. 8)

Protein powder and G Fuel. I know G Fuel is not considered a "real pre workout" But it gets the job done for me without the jitters and itchiness.

Standards:
  • As little as possible
    • Food is good
    • Hitting micros and macros on food alone can be cheaper (depending on which micros) and keeps me full longer
  • Nothing without literature
    • No independent studies = no take
    • More long-term studies showing fewer/no adverse side effects = take
    • Adverse side effects must be immediately remediable
      • Eg clen
        • Will get you shredded
        • Will put you into cardiac arrest
          • Hard to fix cardiac arrest
        • No take
      • Eg creatine
        • All the good shit everyone else has said about creatine
        • Might make you dehydrated or cramp
          • Drink water
        • Take
  • Nothing without independent lab review.
    • Easiest example why is heavy metal contamination in protein powder
      • inb4 "it's trace amounts"
        • It doesn't matter if your body has no way of excreting it
        • Chelation therapy sucks and is expensive
  • Anything identified as good by an independent lab must be sourced from the manufacturer
    • No amazon or whatever else unless it is sold by the manufacturer through the sales platform

Protein powder
Creatine
Magnesium

pretty much what i do. I started taking 10g of creatine a day after watching some random clip of moreplatesmoredatesguy saying more than 5g might be better for you. i dont need much encouragement to take double doses of shit. been fine so far, my bodyweight is a little high.

and like 10-15 thousand iu vitamin d.

Just daily vitamins. Mostly the gummy kind because the pills are huge for some ungodly reason.

Right now a multivitamin, prescribed iron supplements for anaemia, mushroom complex and L-Theanine. The mushroom stuff doesn’t seem to do a whole lot so I probably won’t buy anymore. The L-Theanine helps me sleep.
