What was your first console?

Sega Genesis. A friend of ours had gotten one for his birthday and we got one later on. I have no idea how much that cost my mom back then.

Colecovision; the Atari was kept at my grandparents, so my cousins could play it during when they came to visit.

I mostly visited arcades as a child, so my first introduction to gaming was pinball/pacman machines.

The first console I had was a N64, then a gameboy, GBA, DS, wii, then got a beefy computer rig and never really bothered with anything else.

The first console I ever played on was my family's Atari 7800 which I think was actually bought for my oldest sister.

The first console I ever had that was personally mine was the Original Game Boy that I got for Christmas one year.

The first console I ever bought was the XBox One a few years ago.

The gamecube was my first console, my brother had a ps2 which is what I played the most.
I don't get the nostalgia for the gamecube I thought it was pretty underwhelming compared to the ps2 and Xbox.

As I said a couple posts back, the XBox One has been my first console and I have to admit, it's kinda underwhelming. Actually, this whole generation has been kinda underwhelming on both platforms, not just Microsoft's. The only real leap forward over last gen was higher quality textures due to going from 720p to 1080p. And the quality of lighting in games is improved.

But out of last gen, current gen and next gen, I definitely picked the wrong one in which to finally buy a console.

PS1. My aunt and uncle were still high school kids and I got to play their games while they were busy. Mainly remember Tomb Raider.

N64

I was 4 so I just watched my sister play OoT. She couldn't beat the first boss so she called mom for help. Mom didn't know wtf this shit was so she called some Nintendo™ office and asked the receptionist for help; funnily enough they didn't hang up and actually went over with her on how to beat the boss, even offered an order to buy the guidebook. The 90's were truly the wholesome years.

SNES. First game was Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. I remember when I was a kid, the Boo boss that grows in size as you fight him terrified me. I always had to call my mom to beat him. When I played the title again as an adult, I just felt silly.

I think a lot of the blame lies on the weak Jaguar CPU both systems used. The Xbox and PS4 had several Netbooks worth of power!

A Gamecube and a Game Boy Advance shortly after. Also a shitty budget desktop I played some educational games on if that counts.
